The griff one is pretty subtle, but the mammoth in particular is a huge improvement!
I loved the old Hippogryph animation too-- the unmoving head made them look determined as !@#$. :(
Just checked out the new mammoth animation on the PTR. I love it! It's far more realistic than the hop. I'm still not a fan of the "unicorn" animation though. The hind haunches do weird stuff when moving and the "rocking" of a mounted toon is just so wrong. Why can't they use the movement animation of the horses for them? They're basically horses anyway.
hey if they could fix shadowlands in between fixing mounts, that would be great too.
What a terrible change to make the talbuks run like dogs now. They were graceful and moved correctly for the type of animal they were based on. I adore my BC talbuks. Well.. I did. This upsets me.
Heck yeah. I just got the Big Love Rocket this year, and now it's getting a mount special? Awesome.
Hopefully they fix the talbuk walk because the back legs become disjointed and looks painful. It's more obvious from the sides, especially on the WoD ones. You see the saddle bag distort which exacerbates it. I've been complaining about that for years.Would be nice if they fixed the cat animations, too. Clearly Blizzard animators have never watched a cat walk. Blizzard assumes every animal walks (and for most mounts also run) like a horse when they don't. Then the wolf mounts with their limp runs needs to be fixed. The non-mount wolves run fine, but for some reason the mount ones all look terrible. I like the wolf mounts, but the jump run needs to go. I remember questing in Frostfire back in WoD and seeing Durotan riding on his wolf NPC while I ran alongside on a wolf mount. The difference in animation was painfully obvious. As for the talbuk running with the head high, you realize that's unnatural, right? Carriage horses for the rich in the 1800s had to run around with their heads forcibly held high causing unnecessary strain on their spines. Carriage horses didn't last very long as a result. It's animal cruelty. This was something Anne Sewell brought up in her novel Black Beauty which focused on cruelty of horses during the 1800s. If a horse runs with their head high, it's because they're uncomfortable and not relaxed or there's an issue like they're in pain. Dropping the head on the talbuk shows a more natural gait and not an animal that's potentially suffering.
Cool! I had noticed the talbuks on the ptr but had no idea about mammoths or hippogryphs. Also rockets getting a mountspecial is awesome
Gryphon running animation got changed too.
Aw, I'm gonna miss the old talbuk animation; the new one fits the Argus models much better, but I liked the... I'm not sure how to put it. The feeling of a long-legged gait that you could drink tea on without fear of spilling it? lolI don't see much difference between the two hippogryph gaits, maybe a little head movement, I like the new mammoth run a lot better though.
Love seeing animation updates! More please Bliz!
can we please improve the boar animations they are still doing foot slides not a proper walk cycle ><
I miss hopping mammoth.
Blizzard since you are doing this now in this patch can you please please please make the mustache on the heavenly cloud serpent mounts move.. They are like frozen icicles on the face on some of the most beautiful mounts in the game Love, A mount Collector.
I'm actually livid about the talbuks being changed. Those are some of my favorite mounts in the game, and their animations were some of the more accurate hooved animal animations. Now they join the horses in running like stupid floppy-butt dogs. Ugh, I'm so disappointed. :(
