Really, having read most of the comics involving him, he seems written differently than how he is portrayed in game. He's a lot more bearable and even understandable at times in the comics, when before he was added to the game made me excited because he seemed like a nice addition at the time...Then he was added... Followed by doing the Wrathgate quest line and helping out in UC, my opinion of him dropped to a low point. I still enjoy reading the comics with him but anytime especially with Jaina in game (When he shoved her out of the way in the Ulduar trailer, that was where he got horrible imo) I get disheartened entirely. He's going to need a complete turn around to even be somewhat likable again and I just don't see that happening.
On the account of Varian vs. Garrosh, I think it's a fun thing to theorize. Those two are so hellbent on killing each other. While I think that Varian has every reason to hate humans, I don't really see why Garrosh does. I had a small discussion with a guildie a few days ago where we'd see the following outcome of the lore changes and the impact of the attitudes of Thrall, Garrosh and Varian. We spoke about the possible conflicts that could potentially happen. An idea that came up were an uprising among the ranks of the Orcs with Garrosh in the lead resulting in a civil war and an attempt to kill Thrall. Whatever the outcome, (I'm rooting for thrall) the Orcs will never be the same again. The other option would be that Thrall decides to retire, realizing that he will never be able to physically beat Garrosh. He travels to Nagrand to die while Garrosh leads the orcs to war with Varian Wrynn and his forces.
I play Alliance (because I like draenei) but out of all the racial leaders I like Thrall the best, and really sympathize with the Horde. I don't know who this guy is in our throne room (who looks like he got his head bashed in a few too many times if you know what I mean) but I want him gone.Bolvar was such a better leader. Why couldn't the kid just grow up under Bolvar's influence and be our new king? They could have totally made that work. Not this forced storyline that makes everyone want to spit on their faction leader and go join the other side. I say we kill off Varian and let things go back to the good old days.

Sucks to have him as a leader
Personally? I would get the man a shrink. And a good one. His anger issues aside, and wounds supposedly 'fresh' in what has happen, honestly I'd rather follow Thrall if I had to choose... And I am Alliance all the way!His story is forced, I mean... Sheesh. I want to slap him, his sound bites and anger always tweak me the wrong way, let alone the Battle for Undercity. We downed Putress, woohoo end of story all done and what does the friggin' moron do hearing Thrall?Go bonkers on a blood rush...Seriously.Someone get the man some Paxil or valium... or something!Garrosh .... well he's for another story. *sharpens dagger*
Woot lack of war! We freaking had a recent war with all demons in outland, i would not call that a none war lol. Also we are currently in war with the lch king armies, the Blue dragonflight and we are in war with the Iron dwarfs and their dark masters. There is still alot of war in wow, just ain't been alot with the Horde side. Which we still have conflicts with (BG's and WG anyone?).I do not like varian bcs he seems like some freakin anime hero from some japanese show. Who yells and brags about how much he hates the Horde. Seems rather an insane leader, Arthas number 2 perhaps?Hope he becomes a raid boss so alliance can beat the crap out of him, he is more annoying that the breadlady in IF and that is alot of annoying.
Varian is a racist and I hope that he and all that agree with his anit-Horde veiws choke on their own tounges!/endrant
I don't like Varian. Mostly because he's human, I'm Horde, and in WoW, humans are xenophobic pricks. People like Jaina and Bolvar are the exception, not the rule. The highest alliance character I've ever had was about lvl 25 or so and I only ever went in SW a few times to find things like the bank or AH, but the little interaction I had with those standing in the SW keep throne room was that Bolvar was reasonably level-headed and probably a good role model for yon small child of a king.Varian on the other hand is a complete $%^&*!bag. There isn't really much else to say. Yes, he's been compared to Garrosh Hellscream with the whole "MRAAAAH! Lust for battle! Kill orcs!" (Or in Garrosh's case, "kill humans".)The difference here of course is (and while I don't particularly like him either) is that Garrosh is two things: he's very young comparatively. He was never in the "old" Horde and was never affected by Mannoroth's blood (see his dialogue with Saurfang in Warsong Hold), and he is also Grom Hellscream's son. Now I don't know about you, but the average adolescent is going to be a little aggressive to begin with, plus he's grown up and heard not only of all the glorious battles the Horde has fought in, but also how his father is one of the greatest heroes the Orcs have ever known. To a young orc, particularly one with that kind of legacy to live up to, seeking combat at every turn to prove yourself worthy is the highest priority. Wouldn't you if you were in his boots?Varian, on the other hand, has a son who's around his early teens by now (if wow had any sort of dynamic to it) which would mean he's probably kicking 40. At that age he should damn well know violence isn't the answer to everything, and have the wisdom and world experience to make the right decision for the right reason. But he's not. He impulsive, brash, and doesn't think at all! He acts much like a psychotic and petulant child. To my Horde brethren, DEATH TO THE KING! and to my Alliance counterparts, if we don't kill him first, I hope someone stages a coup d'etat for the good of your people.
I played alliance on release way back in 04, switched to horde in fall 06 just before tbc and never looked back. But I remember going through the defias chains in the deadmines, finding out about the king being kidnapped. Seriously the alliance quests are 10x more cool than the horde starter ones just because the lore seems so much more extensive.Varian seems ok to me except that he is nothing like I pictured. When I thought of the noble alliance king kidnapped by defias, he is not the guy I thought of. He seems a lot like the original arthas, hotheaded young warrior, not a king of an entire race.
