It doesnt annoy me too bad, but for some reason I forget that there is server maintinence when I get a tuesday off, considering the fact that One: I am an early riser, and Two: I am on an EST (or CST, since I live on a timezone line. :X) Though, it does give me a chance to brush up on my Gears2 skills, or any other X-Box LIVE game I'm playing at that time.
Overall I think that Blizzard does a good job with maintenance course living in the PDT timezone I really cant say too much :D As always when you really plan for not extended maintenance to play at a certain yeah that can be annoying but whatever. Only valid complaint I have ever heard would be an automatic timezone changer so that say you lived in AEST you would know that 3P.M. PDT is ..... time in AEST or something course it is easy to find one online for you.
I lol'ed at the pic.
As an Australian player, Ive got to say I am not happy with the Maintenance times. The reason being that it starts around 7-8pm on a Tuesday night. This generally means that I cant do ANYTHING on a Tuesday, as the servers will be down by the time I get home. All servers, even the Oceanic servers. At least when Daylight Savings shifts again it will start around the 9pm-10pm mark, and I could cram something in.The least I think they could do would be to do the oceanic realms outside of time, at like 3am our time.
I hate Maintenance SO MUCH and I complain all the time.In Oceanic/Asian time zones we pay the same as everyone else but only a 6 nights a week game. Tuesday is always the most boring night of the week where the only thing is to stay in and play a computer game. Why not make it saturday night! It sucks.
i dont mind it at all, i mean gotta keep this game running and i imagine its a big task, however, whenever a maintenance starts id like for one damn time for it to end when it should. really, i wake up on tuesday around 5:30am as usual and i see the *rolling restarts shouldnt take more than 15 minutes* then i go to school bla bla bla get home and of course as ALWAYS *realms should be up by about 2:30."really.. just ONCE id like for a maintenance to actually solve problems instead of creating them.
I don't think anyone can be surprised by maintenance but what does suck is in Australia it kicks it fairly early into Tuesday night and if they have extended it tends to start even earlier into the evening. I know its unlikely to ever happen but it would be nice if they could change up the time (even if it was only once a month) so that it wasn't always us who get the day off wow. However there are plenty of things to do besides wow so when its down its not the end of the world. Could be worse to eve online that I play has downtime every night at 20:30 for half the year and 21:30 (one is when daylight savings is in effect and one is for when it isn't I don't remember which). So once a week for wow really isn't that bad.
My Post on Warcraft Forums-I live in Asia but don’t speak Chinese so I play on the US/Oceanic Realms, and I pay the same price as everyone else for the game but I only get to play it 6 nights a week, due to Maintenance, as do all English speakers on this side of the world, including Australia. Why Tuesday…. Tuesday night is the most boring night, Friday or Saturday nights would be fine, who is home those nights anyway? Blizz… here’s my idea for maintenance times start then finish. CURRENTLY IT IS- PST---------------------AWST*------------------AEST** 3:00:00 AM-----------6:00 PM--------------4:00:00 PM 11:00:00 AM----------2:00 AM------------12:00:00 AM I SUGGEST- PST---------------------AWST*------------------AEST** 10:00:00 AM----------1:00:00 AM-----------11:00:00 PM 6:00 PM -----------------9:00 AM--------------7:00 AM Figures are approximate and vary due to summer times *Australian Western Standard time and East Asia (Where most of the worlds English speakers live!) ** Australian Eastern Standard time That way everyone is happy and your staff get to work a normal day without being up all night! Think of your staff blizz, the staff! Oh and make it Fridays, I like to go clubbing on Fridays. Thanks
I pity those that QQ about server downtime and those that struggle to find solutions for spending their 6-8 hours out of WoW. If this is the only period when they aren't playing because they are forced to, I pity them... Really.
During the maintenance I'm usually in school, work or just sleeping over it. If the maintenance gets extended I usually play Quake live or Shaiya.
