Oh Yrel, they done ya dirty....Although I like the idea of the Naaru being overzealous (between Xe’ra and the Alleria’s visions in the audio drama, this is a narrative they’re going to expand upon), it’s really sad how they’re “demonizing” the alt-Draenei to make the Mag’har look good. Especially since there was ZERO indication of this during Warlords; hell, this retroactively gives that amazing Talador cinematic a big middle finger.Interesting to me, though is this line:
What the heck? Way to crap on Yrel. I liked her, she was one of the WoD characters I wanted to see again. But not as some kind of intolerant zealot. What happened to turn her into this?
I guess the old gods arent the enemy, major plot twist in patch 8.3, nzoth helps us kill invading naaru forces.
It wasn't a "drastic change", it's been 35 years of development. In fact, that was way longer for the AU Draenei to make that change into Light-fanaticism than for Arthas to become corrupted and become the Lich King (and also to die). Also, you tried to make a point against the AU Draenei being bad because they're followers of the light, but you also contradicted yourself when you said that "organizations (the Scarlett Crusade) and beings (Xe'ra) have been shown to pervert that force into something different". THAT is exactly what is going on with the AU Draenei, they are their own "organisation" and they began to try to convert the Mag'har into the Light to make them atone for what they did as the Iron Horde. But it's becoming too difficult to even bother explaining this to people like you because you don't bother to think critically.ALSO, if the Alliance were to come over and see these "Lightbound" Draenei, then they would be welcomed into the Alliance with open-arms because they are basically the Lightforged Draenei. And they are at war with the Horde anyways, so why are you all so butthurt about Yrel fighting the Orcs?It is a drastic change as long as players are concerned tho, if you be careful while reading the comments that's what everyone's problem is, since last time we saw her she was holding hands with GrommThey expect us to just accept that she is evil without any context, to paint the Mag'har in a positive light and explain why they help the Horde in their war
Blizzard kill two bird with one stone here - they paint orcs in sympathetic light (less so draenei) and provide the example of Light being not good.At the same time, they kill much of characterization that was given to characters of Warlords and shoving the LIGHT into out faces. This is approximately at the same level of silly as Highmountain scenario where we suddenly fight VOID forces that were suppossedly been in there for many years. Story elements no longer have to be developed slowly over proper time period, now that we can use quick tricks such as travel to different worlds to punch them right into lore. Imagine, if we were thrown straight into Ulduar, without tons of quests explaining Iron Dwarves, titan keepers and Yogg-Saron. This is what is happening to Warcraft now.The story of this game is quickly sliding to comic book quality, prioritizing Rule of Cool over anything else, disregarding existing continuity, and making up new elements out of blue. I might have been careful not to say that before, but so much of story revealed on BfA so far speaks of this. Warcraft lore is dying and each development like this is like one nail to it's coffin.
Illidan's entire being and existence being forcibly changed is a bit more than "mild brainwashing", Xe'ra was attempting to completely rewrite him as its own agent by force. It's similar to what happened with Widowmaker. Not reallyIt is heavily implied that Illidan would have the personality changes of Turalyon which were minimalActually they were only slightly more devoted and not critical of higher orders, nothing else changedCase and point, if the best a practically god, can do is give you Scopolamine, it either isn't so powerful in the way it can change you or humans have evolved into truly dangerous territory
Quoting is pretty hard on mobile, so I'll do my best without it.1. A twist in the same game (Arthas in WC3) does go smoothier, sure, but it was easier because it was considerably faster (some months, at most?). I can understand people being upset with off-screen character development, but we can't follow 35 years of story to see how she probably slowly went fanatical.2. They supposedly write the plot 2 expansions in advance or so. With that in mind, this might've been their idea from the beggining.3. Being surprised with a huge change after decades (as opposed to following a development day by day) is not inherently bad, just different.4. Everything being peaceful and no one going mad or being corrupted after 35 years would be much more inconsistent with how everything works in the Warcraft universe, to be honest.5. From what we've seen, the Light is not evil, it just wants to spread its influence and use its followers to do that. If they do it peacefully or by force is on their hands.6. Keep in mind that what we're seing are spoilers without the proper development. Yrel being the leader of them seems to be a revelation after some development, so we're most likely gonna see some kind of flashback or backstory.7. For all we know, the converted Orcs (*cough* Garrosh *cough*) might even have a strong influence on the Lightbound being fanatical and aggressive. Or maybe some external influence, be it Naarus, Old Gods, whatever. Now THAT is lazy writing to me, but is still entirely possible.
Love this twist. It's an interesting take on AU Draenor. A bit rushed but better than the standard all draenei are good narrative. This way, it adds extra character/complexity to them. Lightbound is interesting, makes you wonder if AU Azeroth has similar changes.
''World of BadWriting-craft - Battle of the Bad Writers'' is going to be the best expansion yet!
I'm all for Alliance related races finally getting some teeth but this makes zero sense as it invalidates the ending of WoD.
This kind of sounds fake, like Blizzard added it just to mess with people.
what the removed did i just read? "DRAENOR IT'S FREE" to "GROM SAVIOR OF DRAENOR" ARE YOU removed SERIOUS?
