you are all getting way too heated over the story of a silly fantasy gamecalm down... takes some deep breaths... get a glass of water
Garrosh is a battery....lol
"Bellular then clarified that the Jailer wasn't mind-controlling Arthas in the same way as Anduin, instead taking a subtle approach designed to prey on Arthas' personality flaws. The response was interesting, discussing how the Jailer has been improving his technique over time to win agents over to his cause. Notably, Sylvanas is mentioned here--has the Jailer tricked her into joining his cause? It does seem odd she'd join him at face value, if he's responsible for setting Arthas down a dark path, whom she bitterly hates."Do Not Mistake Jailer for Ner'zhul, both of them are two diffirent characters. The Jailer BARELY did anything to corrupt Arthas. It was the Lich King - Ner'zhul at the time who should take entire credit and it was him that orchestrated the entire plan for Arthas to become his champion so that he could break free, people tend to forget that many times. The Jailer probably was the one that came up with corrupting Arthas in first place, but it was Ner'zhul that made it happen. Jailer had probably more influence over Ner'zhul's actions than Arthas' yet both Ner'zhul AND Arthas defied his will, and it's shameful to assume that it was Jailer who influenced Arthas whereas the mourneblade was connected to the plate of the damned or to be precise the Helm of Domination. Besides the Jailer didn't mind control Arthas AT ALL, Arthas lost his soul to Frostmourne - it is not equal to being suppressed to the will of the Jailer through mourneblade like Anduin was. All that Jailer did in the 3rd war was to use Dreadlords to maintain control over the Lich King, shame that he couldn't manage to control his own pawn, maybe the Jailer isn't meant to rule when even his own most important subordinates turn against him.
Reading all the comments really makes one thing very clear. Constant reworking of the story needs to be done with a bit more transparency and consistency. It's always been my gripe with the lore and realizing that it is starting to feel more and more clear that they kind of pigeon-hole themselves with the style of story they like to tell as they hyper focus on what they want instead of folding all the elements together to get to where they wont leaving gaping holes and issues. But I'll admit I'm a bit.... of a pessimist about the current state of lore. So many plot holes in Shadowlands to the point of annoyance (part of that is due to the very lazy writing with deus ex Machina moments like Nathanos defeating the friggin' Night Warrior + Malfurion like it was nothing only to be not even present in Shadowlands or even so much as mentioned post pre-patch). I'm not entirely sure they can recover from all the fumbles at the rate they make them. They really need to address the world as a hole instead of focusing on micro points or you absolutely leave people in the dust (and it's, in my opinion, why people perceive a faction favoritism for lore). You have questions like:Why take Baine and not Malfurion (they only came for Tyrande)? Why ignore Lor'themar? Genn? Velen? People not even a part of Azeroth since the shadowlands is for everywhere (something that bugs me because it really does make what's happening seem incredibly inorganic and bizarre). So... are the dwarves okay? Has anyone checked in on them? Haven't heard from any of the ones NOT made of diamond in some time. Everyone's really wondering about Garrosh and I'm here going "Where's Cairne? We see his spirit in our quests but that implies that either he's in limbo or the shadowlands allows people vacation time on Azeroth...." How do you even explain the spirits we see and linger on our world? Immune from being pulled to the shadowlands? Or escapees? Uther's spirit comes to us in a quest, does that even get a passing explaination or we just hand wave it?What is so damn important about Azeroth? First it was because it's the last unborn Titan... except it wasn't or still is or who knows it might not even be a Titan. Now it's because.... um.... ? We're so centric to the story that now encompasses the universe but WHY? A seemingly benign question but when you zoom out and start including the entirety of other worlds, it's absolutely bizarre to focus on one planet without solid reasons. Even a half-arsed one like "The prophecy states _____" would at least be.... something. Even Elune's powers encompass other worlds so why does everything else laser focus on us?What is solid in WoW's foundation? Something that needs established so we can have actual unchangeable truths to go off of. We don't even know all the players in the cosmic war and how/if it even affects us or is just a plot point right now. (because the war used to be light v. void and now it seems to change on the daily). We have nothing to base assumptions off of because our truths change every expansion. So you have players fighting about what is and isn't canon because no one actually knows for sure (not even sure the writers do).You have so many holes that we, the player are grasping at straws to fill that it leads to so.... so so so so much fighting and assumption that's based often solely on what we feel makes sense rather than what might actually be the case. Especially with so much content being in other source material that often outdates faster than it goes on shelves :/

Dude? They canonically lost Ashenvale. Forget the 15 year old battleground, it was lost in War of Thorns. Along with Darkshore (reclaimed) and Teldrassil (still burning)
Don't forget, it was the Dreadlords who gave Kil'Jaeden the Frostmourne and the Lich King Armor, which he used to trap Ner'Zhul in (old lore). The dreadlords work for the Jailer. The Jailer used the Burning Legion to do his bidding. Remember also the Dreadlords are deceitful and cunning.
