The salt was totally necessary. While it was certainly unintended that the change make it to the PTR, they were clearly talking about it. Someone made the change to test it out internally, see how it feels. They may not have decided to push it to production, but it was totally on the table. Now it isn't.
"unintended change" kappaBut I'm glad they've changed their minds.
My shaman shaman/hunter's eyes right now $.$ since she is a LW and my hunter is a tailor
Hahahahahahahaha all this rage and it was a bug. The best they got is 'Errr, Blizz is liars!'. Can't even admit they overreacted and WHY ARE PEOPLE STILL BRINGING UP STRIDER NERF? They're allowing ALL your mounts to water stride, even water striders. How is that a nerf? Also, all this does is make the lw barding and tailor enchant borderline worthless again since pretty much every azerite item has some shield on it and even if it doesnt, people like to keep a set on-hand for WQ's.
So the dev's are undoing the change. I wonder if it's because it was a genuine mistake or because of the backlash from the community?
Actual problems: Nah let's ignore thoseNon-problems that have been here since the beginning: PURGE
This doesn't even make sense from a mechanics standpoint. If you're shield absorbs an attack it doesn't hit you, and if something doesn't hit you then it can't possibly daze you.......
All the complaining because people had their precious absorbs keep them mounted, and then Blizz possibly caved to them with this rectification.
Hurrah, seems outcry is the way to make Blizzard change their sneaky stealth nerfs and anti-fun design. Remember last ptr when heirlooms cost 15-22k a piece? And yeah, they also caved in. And yeah, original price was utter stupidity. Wish they wouldn't do these things in the first place and actually made reasonable decisions without probing the community's patience.
This is portal room all over again.1. Blizzard announces new feature, sounds great, cool!2. We learn more about the new feature, hm... not so cool anymore. No real advantage, actually...3. We learn even more and find, the "feature" doesn't add anything, but in fact takes away from the game and/or the player.4. Profit...?Situation now: 1. People have a choice to water walk on their strider. They pay for that choice by having to use one (out of two) special mount instead of their normally prefered ones. Except for death knights, of course, who can water walk naturally.2. Also: People can choose to avoid the daze effect when riding around the world. They also don't get that for free, except for tanks or demo locks (I think?). They pay for the choice by having to spec Resounding Protection instead of whatever other useful Azerite trait there might be. Just like in legion, when everyone equiped Prydaz on Argus, instead of damage legendaries.--> 2 "minor" inconveniences in the game, which could be avoided by player's choice, which comes for a price. Fine and fair, I believe. Also: you can combine both effects, if you so wish. You have to use a water strider and Resounding Protection to do so, though.Situation on PTR:Player's choice taken away. The only choice left is: which of both inconveniences to avoid? You can't have both anymore. Even if you are willing to "pay" for it by riding on your bug or speccing the shield instead of another option (speed, leech or whatever traits there are). The result? A new "feature" which takes not only player's choice away, but also makes things worse instead of better. Because you can't even have both anymore, whatever you do.Who makes decisions like this? I don't get it.
Next up, they take away flying from mounts capable of that, to make the mount equipment that grants flight relevant.Followed by taking away running speed on land mounts, to make running speed mount equipment relevant.Followed ultimately by making all mount equipment in-game store purchases only, to make crafting professions irrelevant
Might as well get rid of stats and the action bars while you're at it blizz :/
Ok cool they changed their mind, yeah I don't trust them with this "unintended" stuff anymore. I'm sad to see that yelling, flooding and hating is the only thing left that works to cancel some of their questionnable (to be polite) ideas. This change had been on the PTR for weeks now, this isn't yelling for something that we experienced for like a day, I sent many bug reports, reported it on EU forums (even though I know they never read those), it took a big spotlight on this thanks to wowhead to revert this.
If they say it was unintended, I'm inclined to believe them. After all, they announced water walking being removed from the water striders, correct? They had to know that there was going to be backlash over that, right? But they still announced it. I feel like they would have announced this as well if it was something they intended to do. Is that a crazy thought?
