I wonder how many player QoL improvements could be made with the time and resources required to bend this system into being even more convoluted and unfriendly.Didn't they already have a legendary gear system in Legion that wasn't a complete mess?
If I understand this correctly:If you are planning to buy an upgrade from AH, nothing changes for you. Buy a new (higher level, likely astronomically priced) blank and take it to the runecarver and hit upgrade. If you are planning on farming the mats and having someone craft it for you, you need to acquire the mats for the new reagent (vestige of origins) AND the mats for the R3/4 blank (the crafter slots the reagent into the recipe as its made, which changes the ilvl of the finished product, as shown in the top screenshot), then you take the blank to the runecarver as usual. If you are a crafter, you're basically screwed. Finished R3/4 blanks cannot be upgraded to R5/6 blanks at all. Farming those shards will take forever, not to mention the mats for the R3/4 blank you're upgrading. Unless you have all day everyday to farm, just give up now ........ while I suppose its much better than having to craft 30 more pieces to "learn" the next ranks (and then have no way to offload those unwanted blanks) it's still a slap in the face.LW got the short end of the stick this time around, I've spent at at least 6 mil gold to level 8/16 patterns to R4, (the most popular ones in 9.0) only 1 of which will be useful in 9.1, because the others overlap the new domination slots. AND I have 80 blanks leftover from leveling that I can't even GIVE AWAY which can't be sold to a vendor, either, and will probably be deleted. What a waste of time and gold.I hate blizz right now :(
I wonder deeply if any of these people have ever played video games before. Having to put time and effort to get good things is basically the grounds of any video game ever. Learn the tricks to Mario and hidden spots, explore everything in Castlevania or Metroid, get new weapons in Doom... All of it took time and doing. Gathering and crafting items in any game is a time sink, currency sink, and generally not the funnest part of the game, but you it gets you the good stuff. And what's hilarious is, most of these kinds of systems are pure rng on getting some kinda drop, pure rng, but here you have a very clear picture of what gives how many and his much effort and time will go into it... And people crying it's too much work. Honestly, time to accept you're not really video game people and settle for just CoD... Wait no, you have to play and level to get the good guns, so that's probably too much to.
I did the questline on the PTR yesterday. And I got the Tome of Origins from the questline. Not purchased from Duchess Mynx.
Why it is so #$%ing complicated? All this skipping ranks, Vestige of Origins, secondary stats and all other crap.. so confusing for new players. Its not a good system if you need deep detailed explenation from 3rd party website to even get basics!
Any changes in crafting 1-4 lvl for professions? Still need to create 45 base items to get a lvl up for one concrete item like mail shoulders?I guess we will have to spend again 100500 gold on base item to by it from AH.
Since I'm a LW and will be able to make Vestige of Origins myself "Can I buy, let's say, a Base Item 225 (Rank3) from AH and use the Vestige of Origins to upgrade to Rank 5? Or the Vestige of Origins can only be used while crafting the Base Item?
At least the Korthite crystals aren't bop, kind of the only thing crafters got lucky about from it
Would be nice to be able to participate in the crafting, buy my bracers are now useless thanks to the new raid socket system. Thanks for that Blizzard...
