90% of the whiners here have no clue what they are talking about and if they do the reasoning behind it. The only two things stated that your followers do is scout to unlock quests for you to obtain resources and have a body guard function. Yes they may give bonus rewards on missions, cool why complain? The rest is for you to do.. Like you have to go out if you want to make any progress, unlike WoD garrisons. Next: artifacts are time gated because they want them to last. I dunno about you but it would seem quite boring when the next raid tier only offers ilvl increases and new appearances. I'm hoping you can't unlock the full power of your weapon until at least mid way/end of the first raid tier/pvp season. Summary: followers: serve as body guards and sent on missions to unlock quests so you can activitly go out and progress in your class hall campaignTroops: simliar function as followers, can die, can be healed, any one troop can can used once a day, can not be a body guard.Time gated artifact progression: allows the life span of class hall content to be increased, prevents players with more time on their hands to fall out pace and surpass more causal players, prevents early power creep as the traits will most likely make up for reduced secondary stats in legion.
*!@# my life...
3rd slot unlock....14 DAYS research time.....so you have wait 2 weeks after starting it just for it to unlock :|....seriously!
Ugh. My enthusiasm for this expansion diminishes every day as they continue to repeat past mistakes.
very very interesting...
This is downright horrible. The biggest mistake that Blizz made with garrisons was making them basically both mandatory and the best way (lowest time investment) for everything from professions to gold. So both the folks that liked garrisons and the folks that hated garrisons with a passion were all shoehorned into doing them. It looks like for Legion they are using a similar system to garrisons and once again making the horrible mistake of making this mandatory (having to do it to unlock artifact stuff). For me this confirms that Blizz listens to none of the players at all and Legion will be no different that WoD.
I like how 90% of people in this comment section didn't read the article and came straight to the comments section to dribble out some impotent nerd rage. If you ever want to feel better about yourself and your life, just read the comments sections on a gaming website to see how pathetic people can really get. This is basically the good parts of garrisons, like the sense of actually having a base in the world rather than being an incredibly rich homeless person, but they've scrapped the stuff that keeps people in the garrison all the time; the thing that people actually complained about. This, as it clearly says in the article, is designed to get you out in the world more often and to mingle with other players as you're no longer in a solo instance in your garrison.WoW has always had these kind of "Facebook" style elements, where you come back in 24 hours to do another menial task. Daily quests, anyone? Cooldowns on things like alchemy? Remember that being introduced back in WotLK? While running a raid isn't a "menial task", you've also always had raid resets that abritrarily keep you from redoing content until an abstract timer has run down. These sorts of things have been around for years and years. That said, maybe it just speaks to the age of the people complaining, but I don't associate building up a base like this with Facebook games. Years and years before Facebook came out, similar things were in games like Breath of Fire on the SNES, Suikoden on the PS1 and even back in good old Dungeons and Dragons.
Get over yourself, will you? Many people, me included, didn't like the garrisons, I didn't like anything about it whatsoever, so saying "they took the best part" leaves me scratching my head..... what good part?Did you guys actually play WotLK or any of the older add ons or did you just surf through them? Those were quality. This is crap.
10 or 25g per companion mission, seriously :-/. Seems like a bad way to earn money :-P
wtf is wrong with you blizz... garrison 2.0 ? damn it!
Just to be clear, the only thing I covered in this article was about how the campaign works from the missions stand point, and the differences between the current garrison system is. There is much more as far as going into the world and doing stuff as your class. (Shamans for example get praised from elemental's out in the world) But that stuff is very class specific so I did not want to spoil it too much.
I love how the folks clamoring for the old days either don't explain what makes the previous iterations of the game better, or they go with "HURR DURR THE SOCIAL ASPEKTS, HURR DURR IT WUZ HAAAAARD" (fake difficulty aside, in terms of Vanilla...)I'm interested to see how this turns out. Thinking from a Warlock perspective- since it's the class I love and adore- I wonder if this means our order campaign will be about rebuilding the Council of the Black Harvest, as mentioned early on when getting your first artifact.Iunno. Looking forward to some class flavor.Ye.
My english isn't good enough to go into great detail, but the game used to be more atmospheric and story driven, more immersive and engaging.Nowadays, with missions and treasures and group finders, it's more short term, for short attention spans.I find myself quickly bored with many of the newer inventions, while I'm still fond of the older long questlines and actually putting some investment in to do stuff.Levelling used to be fun, today it's more or less brainafk stuff. Not gonna hijack this thread to clamour for the old days, but this mainly is the reason why I'd like Legion to be as different to WoD as possible.
Look to all the people say "haters didn't read anything and only scrolls down to hate" or "It's different from WoD it's not the same"Well woop-dee-doo, it's still 50% same according to the information currently on display here (which is subjected to change i know)I don't mind having followers unlocking stuff for us to do (mixed bag about that but yeah least we can do stuff) but resource management sounds like a damn mobile or f2p webgames that we certainly don't want in an MMORPG mind you and Blizz is bringing it back (garrison resource/oil/order resources/? - it's still the same). Also perks from buildings (still fine lest it affects gameplay) and 5/6 i don't have a problem with it but why on earth do we have to wait 14 DAYS to unlock a damn relic slot? it sounds like something a cheap mobile game app would do to keep you hook on their game (others say it's for progression - well i think folks at Blizzard are smart enough to put in a system that doesn't sound tedious or LAZY as that)Followers (sorry champions) overall serves as much as they still are in WoD but now with limitations on how many times you can send them (sure i'll bite) and they're more vunerable to fail not invincible objects (kinda like idk...SHIPS?). The mission as i see it still rewards the same thing (exp,gold,...) just with lesser amount. Now the thing i pissed off is not that it's back in fact i welcome it if it means better innovations after learning from WoD but (atleast at the time i wrote this) it still feels like the same old system albeit a LOT of our annoyance about it in WoD is cleaved off but the base of it still theresIDK if in the future Blizzard will improve it a LOT or just gonna feel like this is a near complete function (if it is then...nope scrap it). If they forwarding with this make the rewards to new questlines to let us explore rather than gold and exp (it is the dullest and simpliest of rewards) adding to the overall class order campaigns you're gonna setup (that should be the main focus aswell IMHO) especially questlines to get upgrades for your champions (yeah don't make it a table mssion actually HAVE US AND OUR CHAMPIONS go on a fun quest to get upgrades for THEM too for some "quality bonding times" in the midst of a hellish invasion)
Blizzard may be cranking out other content, but garrison 2.0 is a waste of time. I can't believe that after 2 years of people complaining, they STILL think it's a good idea.
