One problem that I can see if Blizzard changed the Exp. Scale to a per member scale is that some guilds would just make sure there one less member so that don't break a different scaling scale.Sure it may not seem fair. But nether is the ingame Rng.I'm in a smaller guild 93 members. Most are mainly alts. So there might be 20-25 members. With only about 5-10 of us activate. And that hasn't stopped us from almost capping our Guild Exp. Cap for the week. With a day or two left before it resets again. I have muilt 80's in the guild so when I hit the cap on one toons I swap to another.
Ever considered the cap is there for a reason to begin with? To stop massive guilds from gettin way ahead? I don't care if some of my guild mates decided to fill the cap at 4 am. Leveling guilds is slow enough and making it slower is not really gonna help. Although, I could agree that the gaining of guild experience could be modified to perhaps split the whole cap to make that the 10 most contributing members could fill 10 % each, not more. If you're not 10 people in your guild the cap is split in larger rates.
We noticed it too and wondered what was up - at least we now know it's not just us thinking we're crazy. We're a small/medium Guild (115 members but that's including alt obsessed officers) and we were hitting the daily cap very easily which I found surprising. I'm glad they've nerfed it because at the rate we were going, it would have been 3 days per perk, so how many perks? 25 - that's 75 days to hit the highest perks and that's nothing in what will be a 2 years expansion. So, while a blue post saying yeah it's happened, suck it up, would have been nice, I'm glad they've done it.
Sorry people, but you can't have a guild with 4 people and call it a guild. The whole point of a guild is cooperation on a larger scale with people you don't really know. For your close circle of few friends, there's another feature called "Friends". You small guilds < 10 people should join other guilds. It shouldn't be a problem to form mini groups in a guild and influence some decisions. It happens fine and makes the game more fun. Besides, why play an MMORPG if you don't use the MMO part to the maximum.I saw someone complain that their small guild will never grow now thanks to everyone wanting guild benefits. Welcome to capitalism. We've chosen it over socialism, and this is what we get. Gotta deal with it ;)Edit:I like to see a move to bigger guilds and more positive social interaction. I think it's good that small guilds are discouraged and it's also important to make capping the xp bar REAL hard. There's no point if we have lvl 25 guilds within weeks of the expansion. I agree with Aislinge. It would be awesome if this got nerfed even more so that people stop trying to cap the xp bar and let it just happen over a year. Having a high level guild should actually be a prestige, like being part of Mensa or something.

I don't see the point of blizzard penalizing huge guilds because a specific guild has only 4 members. If you guys would want to weigh the ratio. It is never possible for a 4-member guild to compare to a guild with 250 members in terms of guild levelling. Because of the word 'guild' not 'clique'And of course there's the cap. We're all against it imo.Scaling it accordingly to the guild size would be unfair to bigger sized guilds as, it defeats the purpose of the guild concept blizzard had. 1) The guild exp cap is there to ensure that most smaller guilds could stay in competition ( 4-man guilds don't count )2) Cap is there to re-enforce your guild's term of experience. Eg 1 year later when your guild is at level 25. You wouldn't want a new guild to hit 25 immediately right?
Large guilds already benefit by having the numbers to see endgame content first, or at all. They're the ones raiding, getting into those 10 and 25 mans without having to pug. They're already benefiting by hard work and time spent. Why is it bad if the guild leveling system is evened out a bit more? No one's taking your prestige away from you, Johnny Awesome. You're still in there, raiding, being "elite", and being there before some people have even hit level 81. Let the little guys have a lion mount, okay?
I think the reason for the change is clear, but wonder why they did not announce it.I my first 5 hours of Cata play, I maxxed my contributions to guild XP for 1 week, and all I did was quest in Mount Hyjal. I did not race or anything. And I started after work on Tuesday ... (4pm - 9pm).IMHO, it should take 5-10 times that amount of time to do that.
I have to honestly ask, do people really believe that leveling a guild should happen through solo quests? Personally I don't think quests should give guild XP at all. I think the only things that should award guild XP are things that require the guild to accomplish (IE, 5/10/25 mans. Guild Arena/BG's, Guild achievements).Reward guild activities and not solo ones. As for people complaining about being in a small guild, shouldn't a larger guild have some sort of advantage consider the extra effort required to maintain one? In this case, the extra advantage for a larger guild is more easily reaching the daily XP cap. Here's an idea. Try running some guild 5mans/10mans. How is your guild XP now?So please stop asking for GUILD XP for Solo activities.
What bothers me the most about it is that I pay my 15 dollars a month for my account just like everyone else does, yet I don't get to take advantage of everything else that everyone else does because I choose to keep my guild below the 20-25 member threshold and invite people that I like being around that my kids can play with and that I can trust. This is a very disheartening move from Blizzard. Guild perks are vastly different then raids. I've never once asked that they allow more people to see end game content and make it easier because I think that the end game content is an accomplishment that shouldn't be lessened because its the pinnacle of the game.Equity here is the issue that I have. There were 7 people in my guild on yesterday, and we all quested throughout the entire day and to my knowledge we never hit the guild cap. At some point the quest XP is going to stop folks and then what? You're not going to have the huge influx of "Guild XP" coming in. For me this is very disheartening and sad. I like small guilds because I play the game for fun, not as a second job. I don't need that. I like to turn the game on play for a while and turn the game off. On a final note, while I respect that everyone has their opinions on this subject, I find it very disheartening that many people on here are telling others how they should and shouldn't be allowed to enjoy their time or how this video game is supposed to emulate life. When life starter emulating the game, and I walk into a grocery store and see a Tauren Druid in the check out line I will start wondering how World of Warcraft applies to real life and socialism, but until then its just a game.
I disagree with you. Name one thing that applies to guild in as far as the rewards that are attained from a guild that has a cap value that makes it so that one doesn't get them as quickly as others?Bank Tabs? No cap applied to them. As a matter of fact if you have the money you can actually plunk down the chunk of change on all the guild tabs the day you officially get the guild finalized. My point is that people are fickle and what helps them the most really does drive the bus, not all people but the general populous does, and this is why the cap is going to make it all that much harder for small guild like mine that do recruit players to keep them. We had 40 people in the guild prior to cataclysm, and they all defected to larger guild for the guild rewards, now mind you, I don't miss these people because it appears that they weren't what we wanted as a group anyway, but if you cannot "Keep up with the Jones's" then its going to be difficult to effectively build a good group of people.Back to my point about the reduction, I don't mind getting it slower then everyone else but I think its a knee jerk reaction to whats happening right now. People are questing like mad because the expansion is the new toy, but what happens when 6 months from now no one in your guild is questing anymore? I haven't run a single instance yet because I just got the game this weekend, but is the guild progression on scale now with what it will be throughout the life of the game? Remember, you're not just making this adjustment for today, but you're making it for every expansion for the life of the game. Effectively what Blizzard has done is just make every guild like an elusive country club. I'm not asking for welfare, in fact, I'm asking for the opposite. I'm asking for a fair method to effectively at least attempt to keep up with the larger guilds on my server in an attempt to at least help keep the game atmosphere of raids and what not something attainable for my guild, that I play with many of my family and friends.Hope this makes sense.
