Kind of a shame he went with holy, as pretty much all the complaints he has about it aren't really issues with disc. I mean I don't particulary mind the "push your buttons on CD" nature of holy, it was actually kind of nice to not have to think as much about that on mechanically intense fights or when I was heal leading and had to call and manage various other players' actions in addition to my own, but if he's looking for a spec that rewards careful planning that's much more disc's healing profile.
I've never understood why people really value Ghostcrawler's opinion on things. The dude was an argumentative jerk when you tried to discuss his design on a practical level.I was banned from Wrath Beta (and likely, every blizzard beta ever as I haven't gotten another for 10+ years) for a FORUM THREAD where myself and other top end raid leaders at the time were against the mass homogenization of class buffs and utility. While I led the charge, there were a ton of others behind me who were server first / US top 100 guilds at the time. He kept saying "people shouldn't want to be brought for only buffs" and when we went on to say "Well now we'll bring none at all and only bring 10x of the top DPS class he shut us down. I made a comment about the list of classes who were no longer welcome in the current state of things (which almost played out exactly as listed) and the future of WoW if they kept that line of thinking. Yes, I predicted that we'd get reduced down to a few buttons and classes being brought to so close the same that we didn't feel unique anymore....and lo behold that's what his thinking ended up getting us to. Of course I was banned from beta for continually telling him (again, on a single thread...) the poor design choice. Though in the end, I didn't mind as we were vindicated watching exactly what we said would happen, happen. Top raid guilds started class stacking worse than vanilla, classes were largely simplified down to 4 buttons and then we had to go "unprune" and try to make classes feel unique again. Giving classes some unique utility to bring them back into the raid scene (or keep them there after huge nerfs, Demon Hunter). The guy is full of himself (or was, its been 10-12 years and we've all changed since then), and brought on a lot of things that ended in disaster. He isn't a total garbage designer, but ffs, he isn't the holy grail either.
nOOOOO. NOT ghostcrawler going to screw my class like in MoP again.... HOLY is AWESOME right now.... i use all its stuff heal tool has its right place and use, CMON
imo if a website or addon is necessary to play any content in a game sufficiently well, that's a design problem. Imagine wow without bigwigs/dbm, interface editing, raider.io, pawn, simming etc.
I don't honestly understand what some folk's attraction to what Ghostcrawler thinks is. He has been gone, decided to move on. Can't we just leave it at that and talk to current Blizzard employees about what is going on or what they think?
