Unlike blizzard's sorry attempt, the class labels were not really needed here.. Guess they dedicated too much focus on that "incredible water" and "floating trees unlike we ever saw before". :P
They didn't even bother with the hunter did they?
I would actually want my mage set as an xmog. As it is? Meh. All of those are forgettable. The ones he mocked up? Beautiful work!
Love these!
As a druid always robed in lifeless shades of brown and the odd lifeless shade of something else, I can only dream. These are gorgeous.
He was kind enought to include a xmas tree. To so soon to
the mage looks so much better than the one we got
I loved them all, but druids it looks like a Christmas tree
So little, yet so much, imagine if blizzard actually cared for their product
In the original they look cool, but have no individuality. They look like a platoon of faceless soldiers in the same army, like they all might be canon fodder at best. In the remake though, they have so much individuality, while still having the core design aesthetics and motifs that tie them all together. They look like a squad of elite soldiers, but also like they are all incredibly powerful in their own right. What's more is that I can actually tell which class is which, something that should be ESSENTIAL in the design philosophy for class tier sets. The original has general shapes and silhouettes which suggest what each character might do, like I can tell the middle 3 are probably beefy squad leaders or front line fighters, and the ones on the end probably hang out in the back lines, with everyone else being somewhere between those extremes, but that's about all the information I am getting. In the new one though, I can tell at a glance which armor set represents which class, and the fact Blizzard sacrificed this critical point in favor of making the armor all uniform is a big mistake. Especially in a game where the player characters are now "special" and living legends, they should look like living legends on their own and an elite group together, rather than a line up of terracotta soldiers whether or not they are standing next to each other. It really feels like Blizzard designed the armor to wear the character rather than the other way around. TL;DR It's clear Blizzard designed the armor sets in a vacuum. They sacrificed the fundamental class theming in order to go all-in on the secondary environmental theme: Shadowlands aesthetics.Given that they quit class tier armor after Legion and have tried to go all in on environmental themed armor sets in Bfa, it's no surprise they lost their groove while coming back to their roots this time.
I don't understand why Blizzard couldn't do this and introduce class color accents to the tier sets. They look so much better.
It is a redesign not just a color overlay for a fair amount of the sets, u can clearly spot more detail on the Priest, Monk, DH, Mage, Druid, etc. when compared to original. Is it fully redone? No, is it redone to the point where its a new design? Obviously. Saying they only drew over all of them with color is a bit disrespectful imo. Can't speak for all the sets, but they clearly did more than just color it. It has a much more vibrant and lively feel than the original by a mile. Which I know you didn't disagree with, I just appreciate the time they spent adding on to the original.
looks nice imo
My god the hunter one looks exactly the same both normal and heroic or mythic w/e it is plz we need elune to bless us with good hunter sets
how to say this if blizzard used their brain 2 sec and worked on making it possible to dye item (i know old game but ffs anything is possible when it come to coding trust me i know i work as a programmer). Like just work on it and say to people yeah we gonna do blend generic colour and just colour it yourself with die job done this complaining disappear and problem solve.
