Alts are unplayable in Shadowlands. Too many systems that should be account wide are character locked:- Valor upgrades- Box of Many things- RenownSystems like Conduits, Shards of Domination and it's upgrades with weekly gated currency doesn't help alts either...Soul Cinders currency being weekly gated instead of seasonal rolling cap also hurt alts significantly.
The expansion is not alt friendly. No expansion that has borrowed power can be alt friendly as the alt has to jump through the same hoops as your main, and the grind is long enough on your main.An alt friendly expansion will be one where there are no borrowed power systems and power comes from gear alone, just as it was in the days before Legion. Then all you have to do is level your alt to max level and go gear them. As it is I have benched both my Death Knight and my Monk for the forseeable future. I enjoy playing them, but the grind to get their conduits, renown, soulbinds and legendaries up to scratch is too disheartening whilst doing that on my main. I wait with them for better days.
lol people you need precisely one week of dailies, and a minimal questing progression to upgrade your soulbind minus 1 ability tier, and slightly lower conduits (you can tag the m+ dungeons dropping your bis ones for dps)you dont need a bis legendary, rank 3-4 can be crafted with boa soul ashthe only problem is ilvl and blizzard won't make it universal, which is a pity... far not everyone plays fotm but what they find cool :pi mean come on.. the "systems" are set so we are slightly behind on an alt, but that's not fatal is it '-.-
The thing is that, yes, they will probably add some nice catchup stuff in 9.2 like they've done with ever X.2 patch in the past. The question everyone is having is, why not do it from the start? Why do I have to struggle with alts for all this time when they will eventually fix it on a later patch.
But don't you guys remember? You can pick your covenant early on alts! That is alt friendly in their eyes.
I'm not farming any anima on my alts until they enable anima transfer from other characters
Anima is super easy to get so this isn't a problem at all. Spend a few days in korthia collecting treasures and what not and you're be swimming in anima.
There are so many different forms of alts anyway. For alts that are meant to be able to do competitive content a bit later in the same season,
It covers everything really well, but no one is mentioning (no video nor comments) about the fact that crafting/buying legendary items is very expensive. So just a + to the list of hard things to get (at least for non boosters(farming gold is very time consuming if you don't boost)/non card swipers).Well there's always the option to get the rank 2 or 3 version of it, those are actually cheap now. That's what I do, but you stay behind with ilvl on one piece (as the video said, no big deals but there's many and they add up)
The first time Blizzard annonces that an expansion will be alt friendly, they make the least alt friendly expansion ever...
I really think people define alt friendly is by the amount of progress can be literally sent to another character from a main.Like all forms of progression needs to be mailable to get the "alt friendly" tag. Hell at this point I think all people really want is FF14's job system rather than having alts at all.
