People just don't like reputation grinds anymore.Fill-the-bar grind mechanics from 17 years ago might have worked when Blizzard's biggest competitor was Everquest, but it's probably not the best thing to plan your expansions around in 2022.
I remember when they first implemented daily quest grinds in the original burning crusade expansion and I hated it then. I stopped playing after BC to shadow lands and I'm shocked they are still using this garbage and calling it gameplay.
Nobody's saving the rep should be free or require no effort at all. Before the most recent change it would have taken 55 days to hit exalted if and only if you spent hours in the zone killing twenty-nine (29) rares per day. 29! That's an insane amount of effort required on a daily basis and even then it would still take just under two months, when most rep grinds take around one. And that's why Blizzard changed it, thankfully.
Rep is part of WoW live no one wants to do it but we don't have the option its part of the processing system just do it and get it over with! Hopefully, this got a storyline to go with it!
I think the problem isnt the "grind", its the lack of dynamic ways to "grind" Quests in ESO, or FF14 never felt like they were wasting my time. "Kill X Mobs" or "Collect X' quests never really came up, and it felt like a dynamic experience that wasn't a chore to do. Fast forward, My first quest as an Orc was to kill x boars, and collect x apples ; and the same daily rep grind quests say the exact same thing - just not apples, or boars. There just hasn't been much quest / rep grind evolution for wow, at any point since its inception.IMO, a more dynamic experience for rep, would remedy this.
My problem just lies with player power being tied to it. I have done all sorts of absurd grinds for cosmetics or achievements, on my own time, at my own pace, because there was no fear of falling behind in the content that really mattered to me if I said yeah I don't feel like doing pickpocketing today for my insane title, I will do it tomorrow or next week or next month. I was initially excited by Korthia... until I HAD to spend multiple hours every single day for over a month straight locked into the zone or risk falling behind. I've never failed to explore a zone and do content in a zone, except when I have been forced to do a bunch of it for player power for ages, then I burn out and never go back to finish all the cosmetic or achievement stuff I would have. It happened in Korthia, it happened in the Maw, and I suspect now it will also happen in ZM.
Most people are missing the main which is a rep grind tied to the main player power. Most reps in the past were just fun optional things to do. Sure we had Shattered Sun Offensive, The Sons of Hodir, possibly a few others. Those were reps that intertwined with some end game, but never seemed mandatory. I myself currently enjoy rep grinding, it's a goal that's in front of me so I just want to complete it. I currently Mythic raid, also enjoy all things to do in the game. Mist Cloak, WoD Ring, all were progressive and took weeks. Please stop complaining about a rep grind, or Just give everyone "the Insane" title and call it day.
I don't even care about the time to exalted, I am more concerned with the time past that to paragon and the amount of times I will have to open boxes until I get everything. And tbh that's why I have been lazy with switching off human for most of my characters. Power gains are temporary, cosmetics don't get purged once the new expansion starts, and gear/player power to me is just a tool to more effectively get those things. And looking back at bfa I had loads of people freaking out in my discord worrying about rep farming for rank 4 paragons. Like just do it and get as much rep as you can get each day. Got 3 before double rep+bad luck protection, and then the other 6 during the gap we had inbetween the first 30 days of double rep and remaining 60. 4% BLP each time but I had to open up like 20 boxes for each faction each to get all of them. Hell even finished that grind for mechagon before the awful mecha-done and most minis wins nonsense.Plus with flying in ZM the "time to content" will feel like nothing, unlike korthia+maw (excluding the camp rare meta) just felt like trudging through molasses.
Exploring Zereth Mortis is not fun enough. This is a problem with Wow. Wow keeps forcing users to do this, but they can't get a good response. Because they just want to do m+, raid, or pvp. Is it fun to find treasures and do quests? Should mmorpg do a boring grind for the content I want to do? This is the biggest reason why wow is falling. Make the exploration itself fun. At least wow is not fun.
As I’m sure it’s already been pointed out; the latest change to the rep in ZM you can reach revered without killing any rares. Not a perfect fix, but you don’t have to feel like you’re spending as many hours grinding away.
