That looks awful! Its like a mobile game UI. Blizzard are hellbent on removing all of the charm and character from the game arent they? The old guard are truly gone and it shows. This game is being run by people who have taken the work of others and pretend its their own. I miss when the people who made this universe worked on the game because this is just awful. And the new dracthyr race just reeks of awful fanfic
I love my add-ons. I wouldn't have played World of Warcraft at all for the past years if it wasn't for add-ons. My 21:9 ultrawide would be useless with the default UI and it has zero flexibility, it doesn't look good and it has a lot of bloat to it wasting a ton of space on the screen. A lot of the UI elements don't scale at all, so when you have to change the scaling to get things the size you want the textures of the UI goes instantly fuzzy and blurry. But at the same time, I hate that I have to deal with add-ons. Especially the UI add-ons. I love you ElvUI, you have given me a much-improved UI experience over the years. But every time I take a break from the game and come back the first 1-2 hours are spent getting my ElvUI configured the way I want. Getting the default UI greatly improved will most likely make the experience far more consistent and easier and I'm all for it. Especially now that cursebreaker and all the other decent add-on managers are forced out of the market this will hopefully make it so I will survive without a decent add-on manager.
Built in tools for more robust base UI customization have been long overdue. Being able to move elements like the action bars and mini map are clear improvements. Things that jump out at me from the preview. The action bar ornaments look kind of like a straight downgrade and way less detailed. The micro menu, for some reason, has lost all color? And the bags are now round --because of course they are...-- and seem to lack slot info (free bag space) numbers because it's just a mockup? It feels mobile friendly in terms of design which could be a positive. But for a game with an exclusively PC audience, that's a very strange chord to strike. This preview honestly looks like it's a UI from one of those rip off moblie games that blatantly trace WoW art/assets rather than something produced by the team responsible for the wildly popular MMO.
I actually really like this change. This expansion I had to move back to bartender because of all the buttons for my class (Enhancement shaman problems)Less addons = less interface errors.
This actually looks like my current UI, will stop my reliance on addon authors updating and fixing issues etc. UI's are meant to be clean and minimalistic for MMO's imo, all they need to do is put their own weakauras in to the game and then I can do away with that memory hog of an addon lol
I love that they're doing this, but I am so accustomed to my UI (which is a combination of several addons) that I may not get any use out of it. I hope they add in a lot of the customization that we get from addons like Bartender.
i know this is down to personal preference and some people prefer the more slick minimalistic look, but for me personally this looks worse, the action bars art especially. the griffon art we have now is much more detailed and beautiful imo and sits better on the sides of the bar, this art is just too minimal and basic. i love that we will be able to move everything now without addons, but yeah i just don't love the style of it visually, prefer the old school fantasy look
The only thing I want changed are the textures of the physical health bars, it's the only thing I dislike about the new UI. Since those are the only opaque objects in the shots, it really throws off the the look. Otherwise I think it's extremely clean and nice. I'll be dumping Elv for it immediately.
I hope they make it an option to use the old one...
i do not like the minimalistic, easthetic-less look. i liked the minimaps style, the UI's style, etc. it gave WoW averry unique feel imo.i dont like having my bars/spells so close to the center of the screen, at all. never liked that. but i knowit will be able to be moved arround, so ill see about that.i hope its optional ( costumizeable to look way closer to the UI we where used to). like, that this is just the "most minimalistic" end of the gradient fo customizeabillity, the other end being a slightly improved OG version.
About 10 years overdue. But let's face it, Addons already exist with far more functionality that this will likely add, and people likely already have their favorite addons and favorite task bar setups, so for most players it will likely be pretty useless.
Looking good I guess, base ui is definitely barely usable in its default state so this should improve things a lot for people who don't want to bother with addons.
I really hope they can give people a very functional base UI out of the box, because there's way too many people who don't realize how bad the base UI is for their performance. And hopefully they'll give us enough customization out of the box to make it good enough to ditch ElvUI for good. I mean, I LOVE the addon but on the other hand, I'd rather Blizz keep my settings server-side so I don't ever have to backup and import/export whenever I format my PC or play from a friend's house, etc.
The xpac looks amazing. The UI improvements are excellent. For those so “salty” on everything - why? Looks like a mobile game? No. If you get so angry about a game maybe you shouldn’t play it. Those of us that have played for years know that over time things change. If you done want change play classic or fire up your Atari. For those of us that embrace change and look forward to new things I get the excitement. It will be nice to get back to Azeroth.
If there's one thing WoW isn't lacking, it's UI customization mods. These "UI improvements" seem to be the visual equivalent of "Blizzard Voice Chat". It's just taking up system resources, and anyone who wants voice chat uses a (better) 3rd party solution.I'd much rather see them announce that they're finally going to fix /castrandom macros, let shamans use hex variants in macros, let warlocks resummon / rename their observer minions, etc.. Those are bugs and design flaws that add-ons cannot fix. Repositioning (or changing the look of) UI elements is a "problem" that has been solved for years.
I use the default ui and I know others that do as well. I'd say this is a welcome change. Though odds are ill have to replace 1 of our 3yr old pcs to play it.
Blizzard really needs to do a total remake of the UI, this is long overdue, and don't forget macros!
Looks like a mobile game. Assuming still a work in progress
Hell yeah minus multiple addons , quite like clean minimal ui.Right into my desires.
