In addition to the excellent points brought up, seasonal affixes really need to stop being thematic. That just makes them obnoxious. "tHe ElEmEntS aNsWeR tO mE!" <-- please stop this.
Honestly just think blizzard needs to buff moonkins...
A lot of people are saying to just keep tyran and fort with a seasonal affix and throw away the rest. That would be boring AF real quick. Weekly affixes (as crap as some are) do change playstyles somewhat. Some combinations are just terrible, like grievous and bursting. And NO ONE LIKES QUAKING.
What annoys me most is that M+ affixes, for the most part - are mainly a 'healer problem'.Espcially so in PUGs when people don't coordinate well.(following applies when people 'fail' at the affixes:)Bolstering - healer / tank problemBursting - healer problemRaging - healer/ tank problemSanguine - tank problemSpiteful - healer problemExplosive - healer problemGrievous - healer problemYes I understand that dps can (and should) help to mitigate these affixes (i.e. kill everything at same time for bolstering // do NOT kill everything at same time for bursting) but most of the times - in pugs - dps is just mindlessly doing their rotation. It's mostly the healer that needs to pick up the slack / correct poor play of their teammates. So uninpsired and annoying. It needs to change.
+4 and +7 affixes are what happens when the developers mistake challenging with frustrating.Rework or remove them completely, because all of them are annoying af.The reason why sesonal affixes were good from shadowlands S1 and onwards, is because they always had an upside, a buff, which in most cases outweighed the time we had to spend dealing with it. Thats the way they can make something more fun, while adding slight extra difficulty / complexity to M+
Yeah I too have been complaining about affixes for this entire expansion. Today my sub expires and that's OK.Doing Mythic+ just isn't fun this season. It is irritating at best. I also feel it simply takes way too long to get started. I don't enjoy forming groups or applying to keys. The people who say they enjoy these things probably also enjoy working for free over their lunch break. They're the same people who brag about working unpaid overtime. I believe that I and probably many of us have changed over the years. I used to enjoy spamming trade chat, taking my time to form groups, etc. Now I'm just looking to hop on for a quick gaming session of 30-60 minutes. I want to enjoy those minutes. I don't want to do chores or overly tedious things. Outside of raiding for a couple of hours a week with my guild, the only thing I seem to enjoy is LFR on alts, but even that has gotten stale, because it doesn't scale up. I have no idea why Blizzard has decided for us that if we want to do content beyond LFR raid or heroics, that we MUST form our own groups. I've heard people talk about automated group finding being a disaster in the past. These recollections are anecdotal. People WANT options. Many modern gamers like me want to jump in and out of the fun. We have busy lives and often times can't schedule all our gaming time in advance. I want to queue up for M+ and get paired with random people and teleported to the dungeon. I want to queue up for normal and heroic raids(I agree this should be gated by gear ilvl, and probably some sort of target dummy dps check). This way people who want to gate keep and have EZ clears can still make their own groups. They can enjoy spending all the time they enjoy spending forming the groups. Meanwhile those of us who don't have a ton of time can enjoy queuing up on our alts and play quickly with a group that may or may not be capable of downing the bosses, but we're free to jump in and out as we please. Until these things happen. I just can't see WOW being the game for me anymore. Good luck friends.
I find Dratnos' inability to stop grinning like an idiot even when discussing things that are terrible for players or the game unnerving.
First, as a caster, quaking is such a horrible affix this season. There are SO many ground effects and interrupting casts that require you to stop casting or move or something. I've watched videos and streams of top tier warlocks that have had to cancel their chaos bolt casts 4 times in a row because of quaking, interrupt shout mechanics, ground effects, etc.But that pales in comparison to what healers have to face on weeks like this week. It really makes finding healers so difficult because none want to deal with it.Honestly, I think the best way to approach affixes should be to keep the seasonal, tyr/fort affixes, but then change the rotational affixes to provide buffs to the group, with interesting ways to activate them. Like fighting 10+ mobs at once causes secondary stat buffs, or players all need to merge when an effect like quaking comes up to deal a percent burst of damage to the enemy. Of course, doing it this way would require the dungeons or tyr/fort affixes to be further scaled up, but it would make m+ so much more fun while still keeping it fresh each week. People would still have weeks that they like or dislike over others, but it wouldn't stop some people from playing some weeks because the affixes make their life so difficultWhatever the change, something needs to happen...
As a healer, I can deal with bursting. I can deal with explosives. They've made solid improvements on quaking to delete the most unfair/unavoidable combos. I REALLY despise tyrannical grievous with the way boss damage patterns are now, watching my party rot out as we're forced to spread while taking huge unavoidable damage hits. Either take it away on bosses/make it trash only or only have it on fort weeks. But in general I agree the whole system could use a rework, and it's a great point Dratnos makes that dungeon design is encroaching on affix design to make some really unpleasant combos. Affixes need to be updated to be in line with modern dungeon design, not thoughtlessly layered on top of increasingly difficult, mechanic-intensive encounters.
