Never noticed this new feature because I was using Bartender4 addon.
Yeah this really felt like them messing with things that didn't need attention. They need to add a default way to turn this stuff off.
I was actually looking for a way to turn these off last night - they're SUPER distracting to me.
Thank you! While some of the new effects are nice, I actually found the new rotational and "filling up" animations so distracting that I couldn't tell with a glimpse which of my abilities were ready or off cooldown the way I used to. It was really impeding my ability to play in raid. Glad for this workaround and I hope WoW itself puts in an option to toggle them, unfortunately they missed the mark for me.
It's actually insane that there isn't an in-game option to go back to pre 10.1.5 bars
Thank god they actually sucked so bad. However, I would still prefer to completely revert the changes or allow an option for them.
While I didn't mind most of the animations, the most obnoxious one is the new 'white radar' animation that shows the cooldown of some abilities. I find it much harder to tell when an a ability is about to come off cooldown and for abilities that have multiple charges, for about a quarter of the cooldown duration, it's impossible to read how many charges you have available because the white of the radar covers up the number. It's incredibly distracting and frustrating. What I don't understand on top of this, is it seems to be a bit random as to whether it shows or not. E.g. in a raid or a dungeon yesterday, it seemed to be applying to most of my abilities, but outside of the raid, when I wanted to take a screenshot to show someone what I was complaining about, it was only applying to one of them. It's unbelievable that Blizzard didn't include any options to turn these animations on or off, or even better, customise which ones show, how they show, the strength of the effect etc. They look fancy right now but it's all form and very little function. With a few tweaks, a lot of these could be quite nice but as they are now, it's beyond distracting and irritating.
So let me get this straight- the community of people who makes their UI look like a 90s geocities website complete with animated gifs and loud, out of context sound effects under the guise of "doing mechanics correctly"... Finds the base UI too distracting?Of course, customize however you like, but I just found that thought funny.
Blizzard, the masters of fixing something that isn’t broken… and leaving broken things for weeks and months. Although that second part they are getting better at.
Really hope there's a way to toggle these unnecessary features off in the future. But for now, using Bartender4 also takes these effects away and works well with the current edit mode.
echoing the sentiment that hopefully there will be an in-game option to toggle these in the future! also hoping they add an option to set the microbar back to a smaller size and greyscale- i don't mind the colours too much personally, but the size makes them fairly distracting!honestly any time they make a change with features that could be distracting to the point of verging into an accessibility issue (the flashing icons) there should also be a way to disable it- fingers crossed!
whoever made this new change and let it go through should be fired
And when blizzard will fix cross realm trading?
I just want the old effect back :/
thank goodness! the flashin has been awful for us who are light/flash sensitive
I don't find it that bad. The action bar glow is pretty minor. It makes clear that a GCD has finished and consequently abilities not on the GCD stand out more because of it. Though I do feel like the inability for players to turn it on/off, to be a massive oversight.
I love this new update, could never notice my CDs before.
