Honestly I just wonder why, when season 1 haven't even started, people are already eager to find out season 2's start date. If they said seasons last some 4 weeks, that's that. What kind of planning are you after by trying to figure out when season 2 will come? Pacing yourself? Saving for the premium pass?

People will play season 1 because I’d guess most got the deluxe package with free pass. So blizzard will claim huge interaction with season numbers and spew it’s success to the world. Then season two rolls around and it’s a ghost town. While I’m sure some are enjoying blizzard products, many people are moving on from this company that simply no longer has the vision or desire to innovate.

For anyone who complains about this game's Season length, no point, it's the standard really. Anything longer and you see too much drop off in the playerbase, any shorter and you hurt the casual audience too much. October 9th could be close to about right (the 11th would be right on the 12 week mark). The earliest the next season will launch is the 19th if that is the case. Season closes, patch launches on the Tuesday after, season launches the Thursday after (I'd prefer if they moved to Fridays, like Diablo 3 was on, as I imagine many others who work Mon-Fri jobs would too).If you think the battle pass rewards (free or premium) will be hard to complete... go try and 100% Path of Exile's League Challenges for it's cosmetics. As someone who managed a couple Leagues of 33/37 Challenges or so... HOLY HELL. You need to be grinding like mad to hope you got the right gear, to maybe get your build online, and hope you can handle the endgame content necessary. If that is what you call engaging content, PoE is right there, hop on over. I'll happily stick here, where I can actually have some time to play other games.The volume of content coming for the Season, between new Uniques (which we have NO details on, aside from supposed quantity), Legendary Aspects (looking like 30+, between class-specific and generic), the actual Seasonal content, and the balance patch on the 18th, this is going to be substantially better than any Diablo 3 Season ever was (no season in that game saw that much addition to builds and playstyles). Sure, the league mechanic might not be AS in-depth as some of Path of Exile's, but they have also had a DECADE to build up to what they do now. Look at their first leagues, and you will see just how tame they were:- Anarchy (first league): Only mechanic was Rogue Exiles could spawn- Onslaught (first HC league): Enemies moved, attacked, and cast quicker- Domination (second league): Shrine! That was it.- Nemesis (second HC league): Give Rare Elites an extra powerful modifier.Of course, each league had some new item bases, new Uniques (maybe a half dozen of each, per 4 month league). How much of it was build-enabling is likely low though. Give the devs a chance with Diablo 4: Finishing the base game, and having a Season ready for deployment 6 weeks post-launch (because the playerbase demanded Seasons needed to be there), yes, it will lead to the 1st one seemingly being "tame" or "lackluster" to some pessimistic views. We do not even know what the new permanent effects of all the new Uniques and Legendary Aspects are going to do, let alone the balance patch changes. THAT is the foundation.Blizzard is also not developing Seasonal mechanics with the plan for them to become core in mind (unlike Path of Exile). There is a foundational problem in PoE's efforts in doing so, especially with later Leagues: System complexity for the sake of not having wasted dev time. There are so many different past League systems, mechanics, and side-content in the game, it can honestly prove overwhelming to even an ARPG veteran, as to what is even worth doing, what isn't, etc. Blizzard, in their efforts of not making that their path, are ensuring a new or returning player doesn't wind up overwhelmed with too many systems layered atop one another. It also allows Blizzard to make Seasonal mechanics that are far more powerful than they could be, if they would become core. It's like a few of the Diablo III seasons, with either the special Legendary gems, or the teal-coloured Weapons: INCREDIBLY powerful, but not permanent.Some of you got the same problem here as you do/would in World of Warcraft (or most any other live-service game): If the content doesn't come fast enough, you complain it is a dead game. But when the content DOES arrive, you consume it at a 16hr/day rate, and then complain when you finish it, that it isn't enough, that the devs are lazy, and there should be more content now, when it is only 2-3 weeks in. You do NOT get it both ways, and frankly, drop both stances. Play some other games, especially those with defined ends. Maybe get a hobby that is away from video games.
And no, there is no down time between seasons once it ends on a previous day, it'll start on the next day after or that same day exactly after without a patch. They said they are doing update in-between gameplays so we don't get any downtime between seasons except on the weekly maintenance day/days for the couple hours.So if its on a Thursday at 3:30 season 1 ends going Non-ladder/Season at 3:31 or 3:35 if something takes a bit it'll start Ladder/Season with a new character at lvl 1 if rebirth is introduced at that time.
