Unfortunately Decimating Bolt was cut right before this got posted
decimating bolts is no longer included in warlock tree
This guide is sorta outdated, general tree don't have decaminating bolt and rift has been moved into destro spec tree only.Bolt was cut like 2 days ago...
What’s exciting about go left = ST, go right = AOE? A well formed tree would make you have to decide at most intersections whether you want to buff AOE or ST.
Bring back DIMENSIONAL RIFTS and Decimating bolt as class specific talents pls It was so fun to use
i dont agree with that aoe build wtf
.
"In general, this talent tree is very well constructed and allows us to go many different routes.."I dont know if Loozy wrote this impression before the recent changes but the new general tree is certainly not well constructed. The general opinion of the warlock community right now is that it is a few steps backwards from where we started when the tree was released.Things like Claw or just not capstone worthy by alot. (Stop forcing Drain Life upon us when it has been a garbage spell outside of Aff and only with specced into ID)Soulburn is immensely overpriced for what it does.Forcing kick upon us, where other classes can just not spec it in fights where you dont need kicks, where we had Curses.I could go on with some of the nodes but hell, the bottom half of the tree just feels incredible aweful in comparison from what it was the week before. Before the change you didnt even know where to spend your points because it all sounded so good when you reached the 20 nodes breakpoint. Now you get Soul Link, Synergy and Soul Conduit and then go look for something worth spending points in because the rest is just so bad.
i dont care if its optimal or not going with dimensional rift
I feel like having Infernal in capstone area is flawed design which will cost a lot of build flexibility. I cant imagine a build NOT picking any dps cooldown what so ever. 5+ points for baseline, unupgraded cooldown is just waaay too much.Another issue is wilfred placement - without RoF, Infernal is one of the weakest if not the weakest DPS cooldown in the game, it doesnt really fit the fantasy that infernal should slap like wet noodle/be weak cooldown. RoF-like effect should be baked in like in BfA, or an option like it is now without removing access to rotation-changing options/capstones.
Feels weird having infernal so deep down in the tree considering where things like Avenging Wrath are for paladins. Destro being so infernal dependent has been a major problem for a few expansions now, especially with it being a 3min CD, but it feels a bit odd seeing paladins getting their 3min CD half way into the tree, then having traits that reduce the CD and buff the effect, while we get a vanilla infernal at the end and a few traits to buff it for even more investmtent. Also really unhappy that Shadowburn continues to be a talent and, worst of all, keeps the charge system it was given when it was ruined. It already has a SS cost, the only reason I've ever seen people defending it's killing was that they hated the SB sniping playstyle, but the charge system it's been saddled with just makes that even more punishing, since if you miss a snipe you can run out of charges even if you have the SSs to fuel more casts. Moreover SB, for some reason, is in the middle of the ST part of the talent tree, making it pretty hard to reach when making an AOE / M+ build where it's supposed to shine.Might actually have been better if it was flipped place with Havoc since heavy AOE is more likely to benefit from SB sniping than sparing a global on Havoc (Though Cry might make make more of an impact than I'm giving it credit for), whereas SB can at least see play in both ST and AOE scenarios as long as adds are present that you just want to fuel yourself from.Sad to see such an iconic destro ability left like this though. I'd hoped a talent tree revamp would fix a lot of the damage that has been done to warlocks over the years as the talent trees have gradually been made up of more and more core abilities cut off and made talents leaving a skeletal baseline spec, instead that design philosophy seems to persist and we just have more points to try and rebuild the class, though still seemingly not enough and the spell remains in a butchered form with charges. The cleanest fix I can think of for the SB problem is making ROF baseline instead of making you waste a talent point just to have an AOE button to press. They could then shuffle Shadowburn into the early right side of the tree, replacing ROF and Pyrogenics and shift Eradication and / or Ashen over to where SB is on the ST side since at the moment even the AOE build is having to pick up a pretty unpleasant sink on Eradication just to reach infernal, if they didn't want to move those they could just throw something like Decimating bolt over there or recycle something else. Would need some filler traits after Flashpoint but plenty of other classes have generic secondary increases and I think those are a boring but significantly lesser evil than an iconic, gameplay enabling ability like SB being left in the boonies.Tree looks better than the first itteration though and some stuff like the Nighthold tier set bonuses making a return as talents is very nice to see, they were huge QOL increases. Shame things like Eradication and Internal Combustion persist, Ashen Remains is boring as sin and I could do without, but thank god Combustion Engine has vanished.
