Flying (whether vendored or through a pathfinder) should always be available by the very first patch of an expansion at the LATEST. Once I had Pathfinder 1, that should have let my fly. It's bad design for now because I earn something and then I have to wait 7 to 9 months before I get to use what I already earned. Pathfinder 1 fly in that current content. Later, in a .2 where they add new environments, I am fine with having to get Pathfinder 2- TO FLY IN THOSE AREAS.And, the way I play- and I am definitely not alone, is that I play when an expansion first drops until I finish Pathfinder one and then I take a vacation. No sub money, no played time or log in metrics from me. THEN when flying comes out, I return to the game and level up my 31 alts. The dev's wanted a compromise and that's mine. Play when it's fun and don't play when I don't enjoy it as much. A compromise is having flying be earned- but then letting us use it. Not earning and then sitting around forever before I can actually use what I earned. Why even have a pathfinder 1 at all? lol
Sounds like the Alliance get the cool sea friends.
Flight was never immediate. It’s been years so I don’t remember precisely, but I’m fairly certain in both Wrath and MoP, I had to have a max level to buy a book to mail to subsequent characters. I sort of think Cataclysm may have been instant, now that I think of it, but I have never heard anybody say any Cata version of a system was the best.
I personally don't mind the way pathfinder has worked. I think having it tied to loremastering the current content would be better, but having the rep requirement honestly isn't that bad. If you are just playing the game normally it really doesn't take much time at all to do. Flying is the reward for completing most of the world content, and adds convenience for when you are out gathering or come through later on alts. Where I feel like pathfinder falls apart though is when a new expac comes out. For new/returning players I think they should make flying buyable on a per character basis for old expacs that had pathfinder systems. Playing through new content it goes fast, but if I didn't do WoD or Legion content when it was new I have a hard time seeing myself going back to grind it out for flying when I could be doing BfA stuff instead. Give it a gold cost and make it character specific, that way there's still an incentive for people to still do the old pathfinder stuff if they want it for free account wide. Set the level required to buy it at that expac's cap too, just so it's obvious that it's something optional for people who want to explore that old content more.
i like the Pathfinder part one and 2. however I feel like its been a while that we have been in zandalar and kultiras already. We shouldve unlocked their flying by now. We shouldve unlocked those zones after finishing part 1 or at least unlock those zones to fly around when the patch for pathfinding part 2 comes out (not necessarily finishing part 2, just when the next step releases the part 1 part should activate flying in the old zones). That way we can still explore areas and get rep for the new area, while not feeling dread for going back to the other zones where we been for months and still cant fly. because I have a feeling we wouldnt really want to go back to Kul Tiras and Zandalar if we are focused in on these new zones and unlocking part 2 to fly around the new zones. If there was flying unlocked in those old zones, it would be more likely we would go back over there and knock out WQ real quick and go to the new zones. That way the old zones wont be forgotten.
The rep grinds have nothing to do with their original reasons of locking flying. They told us it was locked so we can enjoy the content and explore; so the pathfinder achievement should be about exploring zones and completing quest story lines; not a tedious rep grind. Just my opinion.
As someone said already, Pathfinder should be available at the start to earn flying in the .0 zones. When further zones are added later, also add another pathfinder part to earn flying there. And for those that don't like flying: You have the option to not fly, even if it is available.Your only fear with being able to fly is less WPVP and/or players just swooping in for a kill and then take off before revenge can drop on them? Also easily solved by having flying only be available to those with warmode off. :PWith the way zones are designed, being groundbound is way too annoying with all the crap being in the way when trying to get from point A to point B for the umpteenth time. Like all that needlessly hostile animals that natural selection should have weeded out by now, so only the nonhostile ones would remain, since those are killed less.
Except... we will fly in Mechagon and Nazjatar
Yay, a mount! At least we get a new flying mount along with the capacity for flying.
In Wrath- You needed to be lvl 80 and have the gold to afford cold weather flyingIn Cata - you could buy it right away and just fly in all the new zones (with the exception of vashjir)In Mists - could buy flying at 90Since warlords we have done pathfinder because the devs want us to actually see the worlds they create and I feel its a good compromise. Its amazing that people still complain, but I remember in cata people complaining about being to buy flying right away because it made everything too easy.Pathfinder is here to stay, so just accept it.
