See, Blizzard? THIS is how you make interesting loot; instead of throttling droprates for everyone, make cool and unique weapons like this one.
Honestly, things like this are amongst the better-or at least, interesting- ideas Blizzard have had recently.Same thing as with corruptions: the issue with those was due to the incomplete state of the system when they were released (which was subsequentially patched out every other week to make it so) and the sheer scale of imbalance in them. Whilst I consider them a failure, I would much rather the game had a glorious failure and took some risks now and again, instead of doing the same old nonsense patch in, patch out. The "kiss and curse" mindset, I think, opens up far more avenues of play or playstyles than binary item drops and choices. There's always going to be those that are the best or FotM picks, but honestly? I like the experimentation. It almost feels like they are -trying- to care again.
Very interesting weapon but I would've preferred if they did something like this in the final patch so it wouldn't get replaced very fast or that it was a m+ drop like Gettiku so it could stay relevant whole expansion. It feels bad for items like this to be forgotten after 4 months (if we start getting normal patch cycles)
if only I had melee class with two handers that weapon would be cool but my main n I will be going for the bow instead, also that's a good manga to the guy one last page.
I am pleasantly surprised by this :) This is one of the rare cases where I think it'd be cool if a weapon ends up being OP. Hopefully they don't end up nerfing it to the point where it's not worth using the item sink. I hope they continue to add one-off unique items like this, reminds me of the old blizz!

Let's be objective here; the heroic color is 10/10, it's effect is interesting, and it's itemized pretty well for everyone that can use 2h swords. Plus, Survival Hunters can't steal it from us plate wearers, so that's a double bonus. The effect is totally going to be broken early on, and probably nerfed, but that won't stop me from getting four swords so I can have two with stats and two with max proc.
Yes Blizz! Yes yes yes!
We're all talking about how interesting this weapon is, but the reality is that before the raid drops simulations will tell you what the best state of the weapon is for you class and spec and you'll just follow that. And, as noted, if one version is better for single target and one is better for multi target, if it's your BiS, you'll need to get two copies of the sword to have on hand too. It's a cool idea, but it's kinda sad that sims will just tell you the right answer ultimately. Then if you try to experiment, you might just be losing dps. The best scenario is that all the versions are fairly balanced so that you don't feel punished for feeding the weapon vs not feeding it so that people can just go with the version that best suits their character.
now make it that the next expac you can choose to feed powerfull weapons to "transfer" the stats at cost of no empowering or not feed it, so players can choose to either use the new weapons or this old one with the actualized statsi wish we could do that for Legion weaponry, i miss my talking weapons
