I was thinking of levelling up a Monk with the intention of making him my main for Shadowlands (never played one before), but after seeing these (let's be honest) lame covenant abilities, I think I'll pass and stick to my hunter. Especially since pretty much the only choice is Kyrian, if I get it right. No choice and bland abilities, quite disappointing really.
The Aura of Seasons ability for the Paladin from the Night Fae looks interesting to me. I like it in concept. Unless I am not understanding it correctly, it looks like it cycles from one season to the next in line by spending 20 holy power. Assuming spenders will still be three holy power on average in Shadowlands, this means it would be roughly 7 spenders to change it.I'm not sure I personally like the idea of the change being based off of spending holy power. I understand the concept in it needing to rotate seasons so you aren't sitting on one indefinitely (or I assume that's the direction they are going), but I fear the design may still encourage some to just simply not spend their power when they are on an aura that helps their party more than the others.I think I'd prefer it to just be a timed rotation. One where it just changes every... I don't know, 20 seconds or some such. This way holy power can still be spent without feeling like you are being punished holding onto it so the current aura doesn't rotate to the next one if it is more needed.Maybe they just want to give the player some sort of control over what to do with the ability though.
As an enhance, I really like the sound of the Vesper Totem!
awesome.
This seems like its gonna be best in slot covenants whether we like it or not. I hope its at least a minuscule impact enough so elitists can calm down but enough where it makes it fun and unique for casuals/everyone. That seems to be the hardest thing to do for the dev team since you can't make everyone happy in an mmo.
Damn, Night Fae went from boohoo to WOOHOO! in only one patch. It's so good (at least in theory) for many classes. Not that they will probably be more useful than other abilities, they will also be the most fun to play with, if they won't adjust the rest accordingly.
