isn't this supposed to be something you'd wish for if you use an SSD? I almost know that my old mechanicals would cause stutter though but they're on their last legs..
If your computer can hold a couple wowhead tabs in memory, it can hold one raid fight combat log in memory no sweat.
dammit, this is ridiculous. the devs could, instead of making the game hellish for everyone, just warn that these addons are banned and threatened with a long or perma ban. they seriously need to make a team that would handle these things with a bloody brain
If memory usage from this was going to be a big problem, they could easily switch to writing it to disk immediately, with AES256 encryption, and keep the encryption key in memory. Then after combat they could decrypt it, or write the key to disk and generate a new one. Also, I'm in the "Boss mods are an exploit" camp.
Everyone blaming Echo, but the Echo mechanics exist because addons exist. Simple fights, like those in classic vanilla, are trivial with modern addons. So it turned into an arms race. Fights got more complicated, causing more addons, causing more complicated fights. This new approach is meant to cripple the addons so the fights can get easier again. This is how we avoid another Echo.
People have no idea how degenerate overlays would be if blizzard allowed them. That is a good change, overlays should not be a part of this game. It's crazy how long it was theoretically possible to play with one
Now I really want to see a RWF without any addons whatsoever, just to find out how skilled the top players are and how much of that is being automated by addons
LOL out of left field change on blizzard here, maybe don't make mechanics that required overlays to deal with like volcanic hearts, that were so damn massive that you had to use an overlay to deal with them properly. I guess moving forward you'll just use markers now to denote where to go and have to memorize the positions, yet this is a very stupid change that will create a higher ceiling for mythic raiding and deter people from participating.
