Someone hire this guy, this is bonkers!
Thank you but no thank you...
I actually like how each set you can tell, which class it belongs too just by looking at it instead of what we got
and it's not better. Any mediocre artist can paint something like this. But to rig them and to model everything, texture it. making it work in the game and considering they have to fit every race, and on schedule and on budget and you have to consider deadlines also limited polygons? these people would be lost. They don't understand how it all works being in the studio. This is not even concept art it's just mediocre illustrations with very very off and bad proportions, also it's not even close to wow artstyle so it's worthless as concept art, 3d artsits can't use these as concept art. another thing these artists don't consider drawing them is movement and clipping. THE REAL concept artist consider all those things, later communication with 3d artists begins to correct what is needed to be corrected, proportions etc. So no, it's not better. Looks kinda cool tho.yeah im not fun at parties.
this is just confirmation that nobody can make a hunter tier-set look good.
Nice!
Not one of those models could hold any thing with those mutant hands.
Can we get these instead of the Tier sets we're getting?
"Blizzard hire this man!" --- some people are easily impressed but these are just OK. Would have been nice in classic I guess.
Honestly these aren't really that great.Firstly there is a large overlap in the vibes of the sets. The Paladin and the Priest both look like priest sets. The Mage and Warlock sets both look like Warlock sets. The Rogue set is nice, but the Hunter set also looks like a Rogue set. The Warrior also looks like a Rogue set. (While I'm writing this it occurs to me that these might be heavily inspired by the Tier 1/2 raid sets; the Druid and Shaman are guilty of this). It means that it's not immediately clear which sets are meant for which armor types. You can bag on Blizzard's lack of inspiration, but they generally make it clear what is plate vs. what is cloth. And that's not evident here. There's also a lack of color consistency. Why does the Death Knight set have three colors, but the blue is only on the right hand and a little on the helmet? Why are the hands not similar in appearance, even if they're not the same color? Where is the division in the helmet effects (the ice behind the hood)? And, as other people have and will point out, this is even BEFORE having to figure out how to render the sets and make them fit on all the applicable races. How to make the uneven leg armor for the Shaman and Hunter not look stupid, how often to have the green serpent effect happen around the Monk, etc. etc.Concepts? Sure, they're cool to look at. But there's definitely a feeling of "I'm not concerned about how to make these actually work in-game".
Nothing new, this guy has no imagination at all, and his skills at drawing are... basic.
I suppose designing sets is a little easier when you don't have to worry about things like "polygon budgets on 3D assets" and "how to wrap a limited number of textures over a model."Some of these look pretty decent, not sure I'd want to see them ingame though.
A lot of these are reused or copied from blizzard like the paladin book one except there's only 2 books in blizzards and they are on the shoulder pads however that said I do like the way these look just saying
the DH set's chest is literally just a pink vest, i am confused why everyone is flipping out how ground breaking these are?
Way better than Blizzard low polygon and crappy concept, while still fitting their forced "progenitor" theme.
The only one that looks original is the mage one, the others are just a remix of tiers or characters already in the game; beign the best example the druid one that is literally malfurion with random branches.
Warrior looks like a samurai and the Paladin looks like a rogue from Assassins Creed. Like most of the fan art it looks nice but not sure how it would look in game.
cool art, but no. some of these designs are just too busy for the sake of having stuff on them
100% Agree.
I'm starting to get super depressed by how good the fan concepts are, because we can never have them. Not that the actual gear designs are bad or anything! Some of them are great.
