I think something like Classic + with graphics of retail WoW, were we start a new, would be great. Retail WoW sometimes feels like lost cause overburdened by many Qol things and stuff inside to do that start to feel like a chore.A new start would give a chance to continue a good storywriting and perhaps could save expansions like Shadowland in future. But that's just wishful thinking I know it's almost impossible.Lets just hope for some good news in upcoming Blizzcon.
I sincerely hope he redirects the story out of this soft, weak, therapy session writing we have been mired with.Bring back the WAR.

Amazing how everyone forgot his role in the stuff that happened a couple years ago...
I find it odd that so many people are like "but a faction war is old and bad, it won't work" in response to people wanting him to put the war back in Warcraft. Like, you do realize it doesn't only have to be Alliance vs. Horde, right? It can be Alliance and Horde vs. the Burning Legion, like in BC and Legion, which he had influence over, or Alliance and Horde vs. the Undead, like in Wrath, which he also had influence over. Yes, all of those expansions had spouts of faction animosity, but it wasn't the focus of those expacs. You can go to war with other forces than the other team, like (for example) how Australia went to war with the emus. The emus weren't an enemy nation, just a force of nature. I think it's reasonable to think that Metzen can craft a narrative where the Alliance and Horde fight together against a force of the Warcraft Universe, like the Void or Light.

Maybe they will finally give orcs eyebrows now
Massive W, but I'm holding my breath. Chances are he has become as corporate as the rest of this god-forsaken company. As long as that cockroach Kotick is still leading the cavalry I will not trust a thing that comes from Blizzard.
A good idea but I fear perhaps too little too late. This is like calling the designer of a building in for advice on fireproofing after the building already caught fire and burned half down with the other half badly damaged. And in important context in this metaphor the reason the building caught fire was because you ripped out the original designer (this guy)'s firewalls and stops and implemented awful alternatives. The fire of course being BFA lead-up through SL which I just don't see how you can get around that it's done permanent lore damage and the only solution is a heavy-handed retcon they're unlikely to embrace. That said if anyone can patch up this situation (to the extent it's possible because they're unfortunately never going to retcon a whole expansion which is needed to fully remediate the damage) it is Metzen. Also I will chime in and say I do hope the faction conflict between Alliance and Horde stays dead. The game has outgrown it and if you think the amount of retcons and changes needed to save the lore from the BFA-SL debacle is impossible then fixing the faction conflict to work in a healthy way with a decent story is even harder. I think WoW should move beyond the racial faction war to a new faction system that people join voluntarily, maybe even 3-5 factions instead of just two. That way people can play the race they want, the class they want, with who they want and even sit in cities together.
Best wow news in a very long time!
I'll be interested to see where the cosmic stuff goes with him back in a larger capacity. I always wondered what his original intentions were when he introduced the cosmic chart back in Legion.
So excited! I wish him the best of luck!
Finaly someone who knows how to do the job came back !
