I have reported hundreds of characters for boosting advertisements while searching for m+ groups, it is really annoying seeing 5-10 players/bots every hour or so spaming this lfg tools with their real life money boosting services.the problem is, those accounts will just level to 60 now and still advertise their bull!@#$.right now I am looking in the lfg tool and see 4 players advertising it. I checked their characters and all of them are level 60.

Imo its just a diversion. If they were serious, they would just ban selling and buying boosts and the problem will be resolved by itself. But of course this will cause further canceled accounts and subs:- the boosters will stop playing. - the buyers, who are bad at the game, wont get their titles, mounts, gear etc and will stop giving moneyI dont know what proportion of the player base are made up of these 2, but it seems to be a lot. Otherwise they would get rid of it, same with bots and RMT. They dont, because they want the dirty money.Imo they should just embrace their greed, but disconnect this from the main player base and implement a new search category, like a new channel and search option. That way you join this at your own will and enable the spam, but if you dont want it and the sellers reach out for you, they get banned. Also this wont the problem at all. They will just bot their chars to 60 now.
It'll make a difference if people continue to report anyone they see advertising boosts. When you report someone for advertising, they receive a shadow ban normally. That means they can't use group finder, trade chat and a couple of other things. I might not be 100% accurate with what it prevents them doing, but I know it happens. I've had two or three members of my guild have it happen to them a day after they used LFG to advertise boosts. The fact that it forces people onto level 60 accounts will mean that people have to pay repeatedly to create new accounts and level to 60 or risk the status of their main account. It should really help.
If you think this will stop RMT or spam then you are dreaming.
This is an attempt at being seen to be doing something all of a sudden after years of ignoring the big white WTS in que and groupfinder elephant. Call me a cynic but i am not buying their crap. They dont need to hire a person do filter this but write good enough filters that will take care of teh problem.Their problem is that these boosters who infest all the ques are making them money. So how do they go about lessening the impact of their actions. By making a 60 req to make groups. Ok. Like that is going to work. We all know the report button does not work and has never, ever, worked on reporting people for WTS spam so why should we believe that it will work thsi time? I spent a whole day, 16 hours, one time doing NOTHING other than reporting each and every single WTS ad in the que's. All day long. Did it matter? No. Did they receive a ban? No. Did blizz do anything? No.They want that RMT to continue all the while appearing to do something yet doing nothing at all just like before.Let me be clear. One of the main reason i no longer play wow was because of the WTS ads that infested the ques. I was made to filter out using initially my brain and then later on with addons the rule breaking WTS ads. They were against the TOS yet blizz did notthing because blizz is in bed with these people. Blizz has done NOTHING for the last 16 odd years. What makes you think they are now doing something?
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand LFD is already back to being filled with spam. Good job blizzard
I agree. It is a red herring. It is nothing. IT will do nothing. WTS ads will continue. The TOS will continue to be broken with no repercussions, bans, timeouts or consequences. Why do i think that way? Just look at the last 16 years of wow. Never, ever, have they done anything about it. Report button does not work and goes straight to the bin. Not even looked at. Not acted upon. Blizz wont do a damn thing about banning a group of people whomake them money. They only want to be seen as doing soemthing. now that subs are dropping through the floor. Too late baby. I jumped ship already.
This is because blizz wants you to see those ads in the hope of you one day buying and getting hooked on the gear/achieves.This is why the API was ammended to exclude the string for group names. They want you to see those ads. There is no other reason. Now that repeat boosts are required to maintain your rating this is a bonanza for blizz. THey want to be seen as doign soemthing all the while doing nothing and acting just like before.Reports go straight to the bin. They wont be acted upon. Those same characters will appear later on to post WTS ads. This will have ZERO impact on wts ads in teh ques. ZERO. They did not do anyting about WTS ads in teh games' entire history yet now they want you to believe they are doing something about a group of people who bring them money? Yeah, right. Only fools believe blizz.
I have a feeling the people selling runs/boosts probably know someone who can get them a toon to level 60
I think this will actually have an effect. There will still bea couple of wts posts but it will be faster to report those so advertisers should more easily get silenced. Keep wts on trade where it belongs please
Nice now they can sell Character Boosts to Spammers
I swear Blizzard's policy is to do the bare minimum in all situations. Doing this they can say they have addressed the issue, without really doing much. There are really common keyword filters that could be used, but aren't for starters.
