No one seems to be mentioning it but Blizzard also changed the scaling between keys from 8% to 10% alongside their 30% buff to the base key level. That comes out to be a more drastic change than a 52% base key buff. Stop panicking over the numbers that really dont affect most of you. The scaling has been consistent the whole expac. +26 have been the highest keys completed meaning nothing was poorly tuned.
As Xaethoron finally mentioned, in season 3 we had a 2% difficulty increase per key level, on top of the 30%. This really should have been mentioned and compared in this article. Anyway, for high keys, the difficulty scaling should be lower going form season 3 to 4, than it was for season 2 to 3. Also keep in mind we will get access to stronger gear from the weekly M+ chest, than we previously had. The season 4 seasonal affix is probably easier than season 3 as well. Overall once you get caught up in gear level, I'm pretty confident you will be able to clear higher level keys in season 4 compared to season 3 (might not be true for the absolute highest keys, if our health isn't keeping up with 1-shot damage from bosses and abilities).
So what's making people mad exactly? I read stupid things. "I can't complete +15 keys" "I can't get the mount" "I don't like gearing" "these buffs are too much"I'm sorry but it's the most stupid thing you can say. If you can't complete +15 keys that's for a reason, M+ isn't supposed to be easy the higher you get, you need to work for it. And if you don't have time for that. Too bad go do +10's. You can't get the season 4 mount because you just aren't trying hard enough. It's not supposed to be an mount to EVERYONE otherwise they would have given it at +10 keys right? :) and lastly if you don't like gearing why are you even playing WoW? This whole game is about gearing and im glad we have to gear every patch. Because if you do high M+ and mythic raid like me after a while you will feel no reward in doing that anymore. And these buffs aren't too much. They aren't gonna affect anyone besides people that push +25 keys etc. The gear is gonna be SO MUCH stronger in 8.3 than 8.2 so after a while you will do keys with ease.
I hope the 'K value' situation is handled better in Shadowlands. Tank gearing is completely botched this expansion. You basically armor cap with any of the tank armor increasing effects vs base targets the second you hit 120 so they've had to do this really obtuse scaling per tier to compensate.
So, i guess with this "awesome" corruption system, 8.3 is gonna be the worst ever patch. Guess they listen to player feedback and do the opposite thing. But rogues can still be stacked for mass stealth? Thats the MOST stupid thing.

Those changes are bad and should be reverted ASAP.Those changes are especially bad for those playing alts, because now you are stuck with worse gear.
Good luck getting tanks on 8.3 with this stupidity.Consistently throughout BFA I see the same pattern. Nerf the tanks, put more to the tanks, One is the meta, rest have to struggle mentality...And all due to MDI nonsense. Good luck keeping subs this way. I am out early.
What the post doesn't seem to specify is that reducing your physical damage reduction PERCENTAGE by ~ 8 %, does not mean that you're taking 8 % more damage. To simplify the math, assuming every hit is 100 for easy percentage conversion. The specific warrior used in the example goes from taking ~41.4(reducing dmg by 58.6 %) damage per hit to ~49.5 (reducing dmg by 50.5 %). This results in an effective ~20 % increase in physical damage taken from unblocked attacks (49.5/41.4 = 1.196).This combined with the passive m+ scaling probably means doing m+ in 8.3 is probably going to be rough until your gear and armor values catch up.
As usual people are not evaluating the power creep we will get - obviously the extra essence slot is pretty strong and Bliz needs to adjust to not let M15 be a joke. So that's good. What is discouraging is the lack of dungeon tuning to bring King's Rest in line with Freehold in difficulty. The disparity sucks hard when we can't change keys - which is also not being fixed as it was in prior xpacs. The only hope is how the affix works - if real skips are possible in KR it will help a bunch as that dungeon is too linear with too much trash. These disparities are going to be a problem with people now wanting to do M15 - on all 10 dungeons. FH15 is gonna be a different game than KR15 or SoS15 or TD15.
we gear up more and more but dont become stronger - stupid
I don't understand why so many people are upset here. Are we ignoring the power creep that is coming in 8.3 for all classes? New essences, corrupted gear, purchasing sockets, legendary cloak, and even a new affix that is likely going to make dungeons faster and allow optimal routes. Unless you're doing high teen or 20s keys, I doubt this effects you. This change isn't going to stop the average person from getting into higher keys, it's more likely that their skill as a player will. The WoW playerbase has a huge problem in accepting that perhaps there's a limitation to how you play. I know I could never run 20 keys, my comfort level is low/mid teens and I'm fine with that and it's not Blizzard's fault, it's a personal skill and knowledge problem that I could push through with time and effort.
This is normal, but I wish it weren't. I don't like how they always make us weaker with each patch, and we have to gear up to get back to the way we were before. It would feel better if we could keep gearing up and get to very high levels of damage mitigated, as well as damage dealt. It reminds me of how we got weaker and weaker as we levelled from 110 to 120, and we didn't get any new abilities to compensate. We're not playing our character anymore, we're playing a generic azerite + essence holding machine. We're not progressing throughout an expansion, our progression is tied to the patch and tier.
not in legion when they put up the gear rewards to level 15s. one patch max prize would be 10s then patch after 15 next patch 10 with a scale up. this time increase to 15s and a jump of almost 5 levels. so though they are hiding the numbers they are saying go do 20s to get max rewards.
I already feel like some non-dodgeable abilities finishing me, like getting powder shot twice in a row. Thanks Blizzard
