Great to see that Forsaken are finally getting some direction after WotLK instead of the generic "questionable zombie" trope doing generic zombie things... that was leading nowhere. I am also glad for multiple POVs offered here - that some are sceptical, some neutral... it basically carves a journey for Calia to take in order to prove herself. I am not surprised that Belmont is hostile (after all, he was always just a Sylvanas' loyal pet, nothing more), but he represents every ignorant Forsaken player out there, so it makes sense. As Calia said, even she was affected by the Scourge - she lost her home, her family, her views, basically her life she had up to that point. Because she is Menethil, she lived in fear, sorrow and shame... sounds like a great candidate for Forsaken to be honest, all she was missing was to literally lose her life... which is no longer an issue. And yes, it doesn't matter if you were resurrected by Light or Death, the result is still the same - you are still undead, it's still a resurrection. Both have their weaknesses - we know now that the Light has its flaws and is not just about happy time, so who knows what obstacles she will have to overcome inside of her because of it. So, to answer Belmont's simplistic questions:
Happy it became a council. Makes far more sense with the Horde creed of standing together
For those asking to trigger the cinematic after the quest line you follow Calia to the throne room.
Kind of surprising that they went in this direction given how unpopular the idea has been since it was first hinted at. Calia and Derek replacing Sylvanas and Nathanos feels like when you accidentally pick up the diet sugar/alcohol/fun free drink in the store by accident and don't realise until you get home.
I assume the Undercity might go through a re-vamp, maybe even a rename? I was hoping it would be open again after doing this questline (yes I know you can visit it by talking to the dragon NPC to go to the past). I guess we will have to wait to maybe 10.0 to see the new undercity (if anything is changing at all...), maybe a new crest / flag? I was surprised that the NPCs still say things like "dark lady watch over you", would have assumed after doing the quest that would have been removed
so she won't be a queen?
I don't know why are people so upset by Calia. We already knew that different kinds of magic can be used in necromancy (Legion used Fel magic for the same purpose, to raise "fel zombies"), so Light being able to do the same, while strange, is not unimaginable. Especially since we know from the vanilla that not all those that use the Light are required to be good (Argent Crusade, for example).Calia living with the sin of her brother... We, as champions who were actively involved in everything, know about the Jailers influence over Arthas and Sylvanas. Faction leaders know about it, but that doesn't mean that everyone knows. And even if Arthas was absolved of some (not all) of the blame for his actions, he still is to blame for a lot. He did bring ruin to Lordaeron, killed his father, killed his subjects and raised most of them as undead. It doesn't really matter who was behind him. He was "the poster boy" of the Scourge and in the eyes of the people he is to blame. As for Calia joining the Horde... She was in hiding for most of her life, from everyone, Alliance and Horde. She only revealed herself in Legion, to both faction priests. She did develop a friendship with Anduin and Jaina, but also with Alonsus Faol who was her mentor and friend far longer than the other two. And as now we are able to play cross-faction in game, war between Alliance and Horde should end. There will always be people that are against the truce (like Genn on the Alliance side, or Belmont that has his prejudices) and that is why we have WarMode and PvP, but the general story will most likely progress towards an uneasy truce and collaboration when necessary. So Calia joining the Forsaken is something that can be used to further the story, as she is someone that has friends on both sides and will most likely always be against open conflict between factions, but be a proponent of diplomacy. Derek Proudmoore should probably have more difficult time being with the Forsaken, as he fought the Horde most his life, but "things we do for love" and all that. He will probably adapt and push through because of Calia.
Really hoping to see more Lillian. My main is undead and I just love Lillian's story line.
Ah the classic speaking-out-loud-the-things-all-characters-know, for exposition reasons. So cringe.Calia has nothing in common with the Forsaken. This is like watching some Bay Area rich people trying to make Youtube videos about "sticking together" during the worst time of the pandemic. She's so hilariously out of touch with actual suffering. She understands nothing of the Forsaken.
Did no one else pay attention to the quests? Calia isn't the forsaken leader, she is just on the desolate council. we dont have a singular leader anymore
The Pallid Lady and her Champion? C’mon blizz. Are we really going to fill another horde leadership spot with a diet-alliance leader? You might be able to stretch the definition to call her Forsaken, but she’s not Horde and has no business in horde political decisions.
Couldn't see the cinematic on Alliance even after running to throne room after all the quests
The animations of Calia and especially Lilian are neat ! I hope this is gonna be the level of every cutscenes (or most of them) for Dragonflight. Comparing this, and the BFA ones, or even Garrosh cutscene in SoD, it's another level...
