Awesome article! Had no idea this had been added to the game at all. I don't get to play much at the weekends, but I do love the weekend bonus events idea and have enjoyed gently nudging people where to go and what to do for the TBC dungeons who hadn't run them before (:
A little lame that the BC Timewalking mount is a dragonhawk that might as well have the same colors as all the other ones while the Wrath one is all sorts of impressive looking.
The big question is how many Badges will timewalking dungeons drop, cause 50k of them if you expect 1 per boss is the totall overkill....
Hopefully these badges are a currency and don't take up bag space.
Even more reason to run Timewalking. I actually quite enjoy them as is, using old legendaries and whatnot in them. Just because they are relevant again.
I think ~2000 badges per dungeon would be fine.
I got super exited to see TBC timewalking was up....then i realized these rewards are only on the pts till the patch go's live......:'( .. but cool rewards nonetheless looking forward to these
A Netherdrake would be a better mount than a dragonhawk
I agree with this. We haven't seen nether drakes since BC and there have been no variants aside from PVP rewards for those particular seasons. I'd much rather see a new nether drake as opposed to yet ANOTHER dragonhawk that causes motion sickness when ridden that also happens to look the exact same as previous dragonhawks. *snore*
I'm guessing you get a lot more than just one badge per dungeon, because otherwise this is ridiculous. 1000-1500 dungeons for something you can get off a daily that'll take you five minutes? 1000-3500 for an item upgrade when there's other, easier paths? Um... no. Even 10 badges per dungeon would be manifestly ridiculous. 100 per dungeon would be a pain in the neck but tolerable. Personally I'm hoping for ~1k per dungeon but basically all content in WoD has been one grind after another so I'm not getting my hopes up. :/
someone on PTR reported 125 badges per boss. take that for what it's worth, I did not verify this myself.
Very pleased about being able to use these badges to upgrade heirlooms, as I'm not one of the rich people in game and spending gold to upgrade them has not been something I've enjoyed. Sure, there was the slow method of going through the Darkmoon Faire for upgrade items but this gives me another option that seems infinitely more accessible to people without a lot of gold who don't want to wait once a month for the chance to upgrade heirlooms. I love this move.
Regarding the aforementioned numbers on the PTR, you would get 450 badges per timewalking dungeon (most of 'em have 3 bosses, that's 2x 125 and 1x 200 = 450). Meaning you'd have to do more than 100 tw dungeons for the dragonhawk mount... wow, that'll be fun, will it not? and that's ONLY for this one mount, not to mention the other one, or the toys (another 32.5 k), pets and so on... if that goes live, it's a new level of "ridiculous", even for Blizz... getting really sick of those guys, all they know is grind, grind, grind..
I think surely they will have to work on the numbers as that would be insane having to run them 100ish times per mount, which would also mean having to ignore some of the other interesting extras on sale. Since you only have 5 days each month that you can run these instances for the badges, they need to take that into account.I would think making the badges BOA so people could feel free to run them on different toons both for the Quest and also since gear is all scaled anyway. Giving people more freedom which would help keep these fun and provide variety yet still let people collect enough to purchase various items.
