Currency database with hotfixes applied still shows a maximum cap of 1500. But they now calculate the weekly amount by a world state, the fixed 750 cap per week was removed. This affects the text generation of tooltips. So, at this point I'm gonna say the 1500 cap has not changed.
A good change if intended, but I am still baffled by the MMO developer mentality that considers BiS ASAP approach unhealthy for their game. Those that need high gear to climb higher will do so anyway. Those that need high gear only to get KM or AotC achievement will drop the game when they are done, be it at 205 or 226.Gearing timegates, drop reduction, no bonus rolls, gamemode loot upgrade disbalance, artifact relics 2.0 in the same pool as armor, soul ash lockouts, no tier or relevant item sets. It could all be done 10 times better with just a handful of vigilant changes that would show that devs truly care. As an example: unlock every single Torghast wing on full completion of Twisting Corridors. And make system track char achiev, so that you can see groups and enter non-rotation wings only when you are eligible for that. How could you acquire relevant legendary statistics if a player is being forced to go for 1 or 2 BiS only because of limited monthly supply? No data - hard to balance. It takes 2 weeks to get a 225 leggo and 4 to get 235, what kind of multi-spec dedication and fun experiments are we talking about here? /rant off
The thing is, PvP gearing is not broken, it is simply working correctly, which in this game at this point feels like something completely busted. Why not simply put a PvE vendor with Valor Point? were my 10 runs every week for the past 3 months not enough? must i go and chainspam dungeons even more to get gear that will not upgrade to the maximum IL because the devs said so? It's bad, it's just so bad. Either make a +20 brackets to allow us to upgrade to 226, or don't even bother. The way this is now, it barely functions at an alt catchup mechanic.
reduce or remove some of the costs ? bro do you wanna play the game or not, just farm more...
How do you farm more of a capped currency after reaching the cap? The ratio of costs to gains is just off. Also, farming the base items at ilvl 210 that you need to upgrade in the first place can be really frustrating.
Hopefully they removed the 1,500 Inventory Cap of Valor Points. That would fix a lot!
The idea of the "Valor" currency is good. But I feel this is something that should've been part of the expansion from the get-go, and hopefully in all future expansions. The way Blizzard is rolling this out almost 4 months after release, and not allowing existing gear to be upgraded, is probably the biggest misstep they've done this expansion (so far).It wouldn't be much for them to simply "reset" the Valor amount at the start of a new season/expansion, but it should be a currency that can be earned indefinitely and throughout the entire expansion (moving forward)
Instead of speculating off a tooltip, someone jump into the PTR and use the following command:/dump C_CurrencyInfo.GetCurrencyInfo(1191)
I was one of those who scalded Blizzards decision to add a really low total cap on valor (1500) on wowhead posts and the wow forums. Im hoping this change is intended. It really solves the glaring issue of being forced to spend the weekly valor cap on an upgrade you didn't want rather than saving valor for when you get an item you want to upgrade.
this system really needs to be able to upgrade to whatever the ilvl of an item can be from vault. if you spend weeks on upgrading a specific piece and finally get it to 220, it's going to feel like you wasted those weeks if you end up with that same piece as 226 in your vault in a subsequent week.
<character name> presses F11.
now buff the valor ilvl cap.
Hopefully a real change. This is probably something they should communicate better. Players can't be sure otherwise and knowing whether this currency is capped or not is kinda important to players future progression.
Now all we need is a M+ vendor to buy the gear we want...
