Great to see large gaming companies support our community! I do hope that the merch will stay up even after pride month to show continued support! But regardless, a step in the right direction!
A labor of love? Bruh, it's just the Blizzard logo in a different color, lol.I'm a straight dude, I don't have a problem with LGBTQ. I really like how the Overwatch team promotes diversity: they created interesting characters who are fighting together for a better future. But this here is just a needlessly political, shallow marketing cash-grab that has nothing to do with gaming.
Okei. My main issue with this is. If you are going to be so LGBTQ+ friendly as is seems like you are trying to do right now. Then this is somthing that needs to be shown the whole year around. Not just during the pride month of June. Also, i would love to see that companies as Blizzard donates the profit from these sales to organization that helps LGBTQ+ people. Showing the gameing community that they stand behind queer people and wants to help them. If this is just something they have in the shop in June, and switches their logo after one month.. then this is just a means to sell some stuff during pride which i am not into.
I'd like to see where those shirts are actually produced and manufactured. Hopefully Valentine got more than a $20 Postmates gift card for tanking the rainbow capitalism critiques.
Why are people so bothered by them making money of it?It is not like you would buy it either way. I don't either because i don't run around on normal days screaming i am gay from the top of my lungs. We have pride for that. You can support a group or a movement and make money of it too. Blizz was long quite... stingy with it. Now they embrase us. And i for one feel good about it. Shaw/Flynn. Pelagos. All of that gives me a good feeling while playing the game without beeing incredibly distracting or feeling forced in for the sake of it. Just stories beside the stories. These hoodies and shirts just make it more tangible in the real world. You can make rainbow stuff without it being completly for non-profits everytime. I for one don't mind. My life is not just for donations. Make profit of us like corporations make profit of off everyone else.
I don't really like big companies standing for LGBT, I mean not like that, it's a kind of Rainbow-washing that every Brand go through and it doesn't help in any way. It just shows that they want to prove they're kind enough and not offensive in any way. GUYS wow is about about a #$%^ing Race War, what is the plan ? A Tee-shirt won't help gay or trans ppl to feel included in the game, just like adding gay or trans character won't help too. Just identify as a bloody character and do your story.Far easier than buying overpriced publicity for Blizzard.
