Y'all are overlooking the rest of the tree hard, we no longer need to sacrifice Divine Purpose for Seraphim, we'll have them both. That alone will most likely solo cover the avenger's shield hopo gen removal on ST. Not to mention we're getting blessed hammer and holy shield at same time, meaning me have much easier to use hopo generator with 3 charges to start with! We'll be absolutely fine with sotr uptime in DF. The added cdr on Goak on both holy power spending and avenger's shield hit count will make us really tanky inside dungeons. Just imagine 2minute cd goak.We're getting alot of stuff that will compensate for AS not giving us holy power.
Blizz, there are an insane amount of problems that are being overlooked here, to include survivability. Keep in mind what I say are all based on a Prot Paladin at the Average lvl of Mythic + 20 keystone levels. I'm not even talking high end 25+ers1. The second SoTR falls off your just dead. The reason for this is the way SoTR works is at a flat armor increase. This does not scale well at all either. If you think now all the prot paladins are just running into combat and clicking SoTR and never dying your insane. This ability sucks already ngl, unless i'm not reading it correctly all it is adding is a few hundred armor while its up. I want you to jump into a M+ Keystone right now with a standard talent setup and never click a defensive and let me know how well that goes for you.2. The dmg loss, this has yet to even be mentioned. Paladins are known for their high dmg output. We are going to lose quite a bit of dmg with not being able to press this button constantly. Now without seeing numbers of how other tanks are looking this bullet point can be easily bypassed for now.3. Prot paladin needs constant holy power generation in order be played as a tank that can support both his party and himself with healing and survivability. Now having to spend every single point on your own selfish survival(not even lore wise what a paladin would do) is going to feel horrible. Since you wasted 1 gcd to kick something instead of using a holy power gainer ability.4. Why would you even keep shield toss in the game if its a 1gcd ability that kicks something. Like it is not even worth pressing anymore, when kicks are off the GCD. 5. Oh no your a prot pally and your healer is super low and needs some help welp to bad you cant help them since if you waste your holy power to heal them then you die bc you drop your one spell that is supposed to have near 100% uptime, like demon spikes, shield block, ironfur. 6. Paladin CD's are INSANELY LONG 5 min bubble(can't use bc no bubble taunt), bop cant use drops agro and did i mention they are 5 minutes long, bop can be 4 i get that but still. Then your 50% dr 5 min, your ardent defender 2 minute cd. Sacrifice oh you thought you could help a teammate well you cant now bc you may die from taking the extra dmg if SoTR falls off.These are just a few things I can see become issues. I know you said you are going to work on a spell that helps increase survivability, but right now in my opinion prot pally is the most FUN I have ever seen it, you can play for yourself and your team at the same time what other tanks get to do that?My biggest complaint more than anything is just how unfun the class is going to be its no longer going to be a play for your team its going to be play for yourself keeping yourself alive. Not very lore like maybe i'm harping to much but i do believe one spell has the power to ruin an entire class.

Hard to judge its effectiveness until I see gameplay footage of it. We need to know the answer to three very important questions:1) do the new talents allow us a smoother generation of holy power to make up for the loss of AS generating 1 HoPo?2) will there be enough mitigation without SotR so we don't get swedged hard outside of SotR uptime?3) will we have to constantly rely on defensive talents, even after outgearing current content, which basically means we'll rarely be able to talent into the more DPS-focused talents?Hopefully, soon, we'll get some answers for these from alpha testers.
