wtf maintenance until 3pm, woooot, rip
So we just not gunna talk about the strike? LOL I hope it doesn't cause too many huge problems for tomorrow. I sympathise with them but I don't see what leverage striking will bring when the company has already decided to fire all of you?
Let's hope for a smooth release, no matter if it takes longer.
Have seen this all day, and honestly the only thing I've wondered is why they're starting at 7am, and not 3am like usualOtherwise, aye, while I sympathise with the workers, I hope the strike doesn't make too much of an issue with our launch :\ I guess they've chosen a great time to do it though, best chance they have to actually get heard and maybe get what they want (not being fired)
From what I've read the Versailles office is just administrstive, like customer support, marketing, etc. I believe the technical personel and servers are in the Paris office, but that much I don't know for sure. Seems possible but improbable that the strike will have any impact on the extended maintenance. As it stands it's the same interval given in US sans the 1h extension they announced during the day.
Man, sure would be a bad time if a whole bunch of people working in Europe were to suddenly just... go on strike.
My guess from working with these things is that the usual updates are largely unsupervised and a release this big is done during office hours with all hands on deck.
I bet you a packet of skittles it will be over well before then.
US has already been a test pilot ironing out a lot of kinks. EU release should be smoother and faster. God bless the USA!
Irritating how the realms go down 7 in the morning instead of middle of the night, but I guess it's because Blizzard people in US will work on the EU patch release so having the realms go down later will fit them better? Or something.
Almost. Server techs in Europe work office hours.
Why would a strike affect EU servers? They're maintained from the US.
This has been announced for over a week now.
good, there nothing to do before SL release
I saw it a few hour ago when I entered the game
Wowhead its really nice how you lock threads without allowing any discussion of the matter.
Why can't we talk about the Versailles office closing? Why lock the thread? It SHOULD be something to talk about, why not huh?
Wonder what sort of message it would send to Blizzard if EVERY PLAYER IN THE EU DIDN'T LOG ON FOR 24 HOURS. Maybe a union strike isn't enough, maybe players showing they care about the situation as well and striking would send a message, since apparently the outcry of their employees isn't enough.
