While Island Expeditions offer small-scale conflict, cooperative (PvE) Warfronts represent large-scale war on the homefront as members of each faction fight for control of a location critical to the war effort.
Anchored in the real-time strategy (RTS) origins of Warcraft, you play the role of a lieutenant leading the charge on the ground of a massive battle. Together with 19 fellow allied players, you will create an outpost, secure resources, set up supply lines, and train troops to push forward to assault and overcome an enemy stronghold. Unlike Warcraft III, you’ll be fighting in this conflict firsthand rather than commanding from a top-down perspective—putting you on the front lines of a large-scale, 20-player PvE experience.

Teldrassil is burning. Undercity is under siege. The long-simmering tension between the factions has escalated into all-out war.At the heart of Warcraft lies the ever-present conflict between the Horde and the Alliance, and Battle for Azeroth brings that front and center as heroes seek out new allies and scour the world for resources to defend hearth and home. While Island Expeditions represent the small-scale skirmishes breaking out across the world, a Warfront represents a grand-scale battle for control of a key strategic location. Inspired by the real-time strategy roots of the Warcraft series, a Warfront pits you and 19 other champions of your faction against a mighty opposing-faction force in a cooperative (PvE) 20-player experience.Players taking part in a Warfront will build their bases from the ground up, research upgrades, command their troops to take territory, and lead the way to victory. You’ll fight different enemy commanders, research new war technology, and engage in combat directly on the battlefield alongside your allies.
Here’s a look at Stromgarde, currently in development:Warfront – StromgardeLocated in the Arathi Highlands, Stromgarde is one of the key locations in the struggle for control of the Eastern Kingdoms. For the Alliance, Stromgard sits in a critical defensive position. Following the battle for Lordaeron, the Horde threat still looms over the Eastern Kingdoms. Holding Stromgarde will be key if you hope to keep the Horde’s aggression at bay.As the Horde, securing Stromgarde would set the stage for an assault on the heart of the Eastern Kingdoms and serve as a launching point for a campaign against the worgen kingdom of Gilneas. The location is also key to the defense of the blood elf capital, Silvermoon City, in the north.
