Lol the ember court band is ripping off "stairway to heaven pretty hard"... harmonic intonation for a while then you can hear it .. "and shes buyyying the stairway, to heeeaven"
The second one sounds like the mists of pandaria title screen music after the main heroes of azeroth theme ends.
the broker music forshadows xpac after may very well be a sorta middle east themed karash ethereal homeworld void vs light xpac
I did a double take when I read Grant Kirkhope. He is the legendary composer of Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, among others.
is it a bad sign that the music is one of the things i look forward to the most in a new expansion and out of everything ive heard so far nothing really jumps out at me? even the shadowlands title theme is probably the weakest out of all the expansions so far. even bfa had amazing music. city of gold is one of the best tracks i've ever heard. dont want to sound like another comment section hater but should i be worried?
Whether the Stairway to Heaven similarities are intentional or not, "nothing is original" is wrong, it's like "nothing new under the sun" from the Bible, which is also wrong. Some things have similarities to other things, some more than others. This is especially true of soundtrack music where we absolutely expect to hear certain harmonics and chord progressions with a certain emotional resonance, rhythms can't be copyrighted, there are only 7 notes in western music etc.I'm just pointing out the flawed absolutism that's all.
So far, all SL music is pretty depressing.
