So black background is now just grey? This will impact reading in sunlight negatively... No more reading news when out and about I guess
Front page revamp, honestly, looks awful.Usability > Aesthetics.Users shouldn't have to scroll down past the fold to start seeing relevant information, be it headlines, the Today in WoW section etc.
I can't really see the color difference so no comment there. It looks pretty slick, but this just creates more clicks to get to what I use the most. Not a fan of removing the news from the homepage.
I care about the Today in WoW highlights and blue tracker more than the news, personally. The current page having those higher on the page is something I find convenient. Being able to see Today in WoW without having to scroll past other things is really nice.
Since my previous post got deleted because I thought this was an april fools joke, here is some legit feedback regarding the redesign shown.Your goal is to reduce visual clutter. Yet the shown screenshot has a ton of banners with very large photos (sylvanas) and then next to it 2 smaller banners (classic / tbc news). This already is a visual overload and thus clutter. Then there is the aspect of why people check the website. Currently you have the "Today in WoW" news tab at the very top of the page. Quick and easy access to see if today the rares spawn that you need or if any of the worldquests you need for an achievement are there. With the redesign this is moved all the way to the bottom. So you have to scroll through fluff and clutter you are not here for to see it. Reducing accesibility to the website. The little tab that it now shows on the bottem for the today in wow looks neated, its cleaned up a bit so nice work there. But overal you now have nothing alligned on the page. Sylvanas banner is huge with 2 small banners next to it. Directly beneath it you have 2 ad-zones that misallign completly with the banners above, making it look messy. And then beneath those you have the blue tracker/today in wow tab that misalligns with everything above it again. Swap the blue tracker and the today in wow tab. That way atleast you have the main wow content related things going from larger banners on the left to smaller tabs / banners on the right. I know that with the ad-zone that might be a bit different to implement. But if possible flip that aswel. Try to get things more alligned because it looks really really messy and cluttered now. Also with this redesign if a news article with have a longer title it will look really fragmented because there is no real space for it to be placed on. On the Sylvanas banner the title already takes up 3 lines. And a general question, where will all the other news articles be placed? Like this it only has room for the most recent article and not the list we currently have which does the job perfectly fine.
Loving the addition of IDs on the search pages. Not so sure about the new front page. It's very cluttered. Hopefully you do some more design passes on it before it goes live.
The only thing I'm not fond of is moving the blue tracker from the top to down the page. I've checked this site for many years for blue posts and its always been nice having the tracker right at the top.
They should also put this in.input, input, input, input, select, textarea, .imitation-select { background: #141414; border: 1px solid #424242; border-radius: 4px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #999; font-size: 14px; max-width: 100%; padding: 6px 12px;}I already have changed a lot of the design in Stylus , but that one is a must I say, the white box for comment is so meeeeeeh... There are other places that needs changes, that they did not show.
Wish the TBC page got as much work done...still no ZA tracker
why do companies waste developing time on this kinda stuff.... i have looked through the pics 3 times now and do not see a difference.
Removing the "Recent News" tab is such a bad decision. I already hate the News webpage compared to "Recent News", so having to go there to double check a news a couple days old is a chore. But now you're straight up removing the tab? That honestly could be the end of my daily wowhead check. Having the ability to check the headlines quickly was good. Having to scroll endlessly to check the news is not. There's value in compact info, especially for mobile user (but even on my 1080p second screen, on the News page there's only 5 headlines that fit on the screen at the same time, so I have to scroll a whole extra screen just to get the same value as the tiny "Recent News" tab.
I don't even see the difference with the color scheme. Also, don't remove the ability to filter out spoilers please.Having a huge "End boss of 10.0 is this guy!" thumbnail is not gonna be sweet.
I thought for sure it was an April Fools joke, but saw your comment at the end and kudos to Wowhead to taking a break
Don't really see any difference.
Not sure why you guys insist with those HUGE elements on the frontpage, the user has to scroll down in order to even see the news articles. The mobile website is even worse user experience due to this, the user has to scroll and scroll and scroll down more and more (I count 9-10 swipes) before reaching the actual latest news posts. For this reason I long gave up visiting wowhead on my phone. The top toolbars on the website are also taking way too much space and there's 4 lines of them, it's like in the old internet days where newbies were installing 4 different toolbar plugins in Internet Explorer.
Any chance the site update would include a way to upvote comments ?
This doesn't seem needed. Everything looks and works fine as it is.
You really made me searching about 5 minutes for the difference in the color scheme, then I realized it's April the 1st. Good job!EDIT: Ok, I've read the comments. So this is no joke? I don't see any difference in colors at all? Is this because I'm using a dark theme in browser? But before using a dark theme, it looked the same, too. I don't get it. If you really want to change something, my biggest wish would be: Add a personalized start page. I want to unselect news about Hearthstone, Classic WoW/BC, Diablo III and especially Blizzard lawsuits. This is WOWhead, not BLIZZhead. I'm playing Diablo, too. But I don't need any news about it.
