Engineering: Wormhole Generator: Pandaria - random destination but with the exception of Oondasta, it's almost guaranteed to put you closer to your intended destination than the Jade Forest portal.Engineering: Wormhole Generator Northrend - Doesn't let you choose Wyrmrest/Dragonblight, Dalaran or Wintergrasp, but will put you right on the doorstep of Ulduar and The Argent Tournament and close to many other destinations.#YouNoTakePortal!
A little disappointed about everyone whining on this thread. The removal of portals should be the least of everyone's concerns, there are so many more topics that need attention instead.I really hope none of you play Classic.
Zeppelin to Grom'gol still exists in Org, right? Could use that to get to Karazhan, it's about as far to fly as it is from Stonard iirc.
Couple missed items here from engineers. Wormhole generator pandaria is a dice roll but i use it all the time even now. Also reaves with wormhole mode installed for legion is awesome as well as wormhole generator argus. As a druid engineer im not too worried about this.
Hey, there's a good side to all this stuff...mages will be in high demand to do ports to places. Some of the more enterprising ones will make good bank on the trade of portal to wherever. Having been going through the mount quests for my alts who didn't get them in Legion current content, I can tell you that there are certain places you can't get to without the portals. I've been through the basement portals in New Dal about a hundred times in 2 weeks. And it's no that fast, you still have to fly halfway across the continent to get to anywhere. Ever tried to get to anywhere in Kalimdor when you're Alliance? Yeah, that has been such a joy. There's the boat in Menethil Harbor that goes to Theramore. The Sands of Time portals were just about the only other way to get there. Oh, and Darnassus but.....yeah, we all know how that happened. That's pretty much it. And I cannot tell you how much I hate that flight from Shattrath to Area 52 to, yet again, fail to get the Ashes of Al'ar. It's overly long and boring. I think this whole changing portals is a big mistake and is going to cause havoc with a lot of quests, especially going back to pick up old storylines. If the idea was to make us do only current content and let the rest of the world languish without visitation, they've done it very well. They should have put in a counter so they could check how often a portal gets used before nuking it out of the game. But hey, the mages are going to make a million....
I hate people who complain about the people who are impacted by this change.Classic is over there, go have fun. Retail does not need to become more tedious "for reasons".If you don't farm old content on multiple alts or you don't use the current portals, great for you! You are not impacted and this really doesn't concern you. If you are just bitter dev time was wasted on this so are we! They could have left all the portals alone, wasted no dev time, and worked on whatever it is you are upset by.The karazhan portal is a minor annoyance for me. I am more irritated by the change to accessing Pandaria.Begging mages to port all my toons every week is really obnoxious for them and for me.If it is ok to have portals in SW/ORG it should be perfectly acceptable to have them in Dalaran/Shrine.They don't need to be removed in the first place. It would have taken zero effort to leave them alone.
Thunder Bluff, Undercity Ironforge and Darnassus- The portal for Hellfire remains
I used to laugh at the people who say Blizzard should remove flying from this game...now I kind of understand them. I still laugh at them, mind, but I understand them now. It's like this portal business. Oh no, you actually have to TAKE TIME to get somewhere! THE GAME IS DYING! OH NO!Look at it this way: You've got frequent flyer miles saved up from all this portaling. Use them! :D
Just tested a way to get to Wyrmrest Temple on the PTR. If you've done the Deaths of Chromie quest you can talk to the Image of Chromie in the Violet Citadel in Dalaran (Broken Isles), which will zone you into the scenario, then leave the dungeon group which will drop you at Wyrmrest in Northrend. While I think the loss of the Wyrmrest portal isn't such a big deal as we're getting a Dalaran (Northrend) portal in the capital cities it's still nice to know all options available to you.
"The loss of this portal does not affect Horde that much, as they can still use Undercity/Lordaeron through many means like the Zeppelin in Orgrimmar." that is incorrect there is a portal where you used to catch the zepplin.
This would require you to be max level, but Alliance players can access the northern Eastern Kingdoms by taking the portal to Arathi Highlands when the Warfront is in Patrol mode for them!
Bliz should be making it easier to get around in old content, not harder. The amount of time spent on these changes by programmers could have done exactly that, and created a framework for the future which could be applied to 'future' past expansions.
