It says 3.3.x to 4.0.0 for me.. not 4.1
I just wait for patches to show up in the WoWWiki mirror list and then pull it with uTorrent. It's the same torrent you get with the BackgroundDownloader but you get a lot more control over how the download (and upload to other users) is handled.http://www.wowwiki.com/Mirrors
Nooooooooooooooooooo... That must not be true. Cuz my launcher does not work:(
I'd like to know why we still don't have better patch notes... Slightly frustrating as I would like to know EXACTLY what is changing with this patch...EDIT: For example, for Paladin changes, it just says we are getting a new resource bar...
According to my background downloader, it says it's downloading: "WoW-3.3.x-to-4.0.0-patch-na-stage-1"It also says it's downloading 1.58 GB of data. So it's big and at least 4.0.0 is part of it.
Patch 3.0.2 (Major patch that that introduced the 51-talent points among other major Pre-Wrath change)was announced by Blues on the 25th of August 2008.It was fully released to players on 14th of October 2008. Pre-Wrath events (Necropolis invasion etc) started at this point. The expansion itself was released on the 13th of November 2008.The next part is nothing but speculation based on the above numbers. There is a 50-day gap between the announcement of patch 3.0.2 and its release. The patch lasted a month prior to the expansion launch.According to PTR testers, patch 4.0.1 is still quite messy. However, if Boubouille's 2nd of November release prediction is true, the patch would be released by early October.A month gap between 4.0.1 would allow the players to enjoy pre-Cata events, without feeling rushed. Blizz to really stress-test the new major talent changes and make adjustments...Furthermore, patch 4.0.1 would probably spell an end to the Zalazane's Fall and Operation Gnomeregan. A first-week-of-October release would allow players to enjoy those events for a month(They were released on September the 7/8th).Those are the "arguments" for a relatively early release of the patch. On the other side of the coin, as I said above, there has been mention on PTR forums that the patch is still very much work in progress (Lots of bugs and crashes)Patch 4.0.2 was made available on PTR on September the 11th and was 16GB big. We have only downloaded 10% worth of PTR's patch size. If we have a 5 week gap between the first part of 4.0.2 being downloaded, and the patch being activated on Live Realms, and a month gap between the patch and Cata's release:Patch would be available on 20th of October and Cata would be released on November 16/17th week.I would probably be putting my money behind an early October release of the patch followed by an early November release of Cata, as Boub has the insight that I don't, and my "predictions" are purely speculations based on the past and reliance on the present to follow the same patterns.
@Archibolt (didn't want to quote)Two things I'm seeing:1) There has already been an announcement that 4.0.3 will also be coming out before the actual Cataclysm release, which is something completely new (two pre-release patches), therefore I would not be assuming things will go the same as they did pre-WotLK.2) 16GB isn't how big the patch for live is going to be, PTR has its own client, therefore it is going to be much, much larger than the live release patch. I would expect something more along the lines of 4-6GB for the actual patch. So I'm betting we have about 1/4 of it or so.
How curious. My downloader says "WoW-3.3.x-to-4.0.0-patch-eu" for a size of 1,74 GB !Would it be followed by a 4.0.0 to 4.0.1 update ?
Jesus &*!@ing Christ, corporate crap again. I hate people who just HAVE to keep #$%^&ing about companies, even though there is NO reason for it.
There is apparently a conflict with the Background Downloader and a recent Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime update that is causing the downloader to crash on startup on Windows XP systems. If you are experiencing this issue:
does anyone know when cata is suppose to ship? In trade chat yesterday on Scilla, the word on the street is Nov 2nd. Confirm or deny?
