I've been playing BG3, ignoring wow a bit. Lemme tell you, coming here and watching that cinematic is giving me whiplash from the sheer difference in quality. It's pretty bad. Hopefully they cut a few heads going into the next expansion. As with any job, if writers don't improve, and keep doing really mediocre work, it should be bye-bye. This is not the first time they do this. For anybody playing wow and not finding anything wrong with the story, I suggest trying Baldur's Gate 3. This game's culminating cinematics definitely will make you feel something. Emotions. Yes, really. That one here made me feel nothing.Awe, joy, sadness, anticipation, absolute contentment in the way things are wrapped up, a sense of fulfilment, of having witnessed a long and amazing adventure, developping deep attachment and love for the characters in the story. Writing can be such a powerful tool. Video games can do that. But the guys in charge of wow's writing at the moment clearly cannot. They are incompetent.
I am so @#$%ing confused, Alexstrasza says "We have regained our Aspect Powers back" in the text chat before the cinematic, and then in the cinematic says "These are not our aspect power, this is something else" WTF
Wowhead: Spoilers ahead! Also wowhead: writes the spoiler in the title
Eghhh, I honestly didn’t expect much for the ending because any content with Night Elf theme/dream/ardenweald is all the boring same unity happy go go vibes. I will say hopefully going forward they make better expansion endings.
game being written by 15 year olds fr
This is why I hate Blizzard politics toward LFR.As PVP player I'm doing only LFR to check the story. But when last LFR boss will be opened EVERYSINGLE squirl will spoiler me how the WoW have ended...Please Blizzard rethink your politics and open full LFR right away.
How many times can they say 'Aspectral Power' over and over again before even the people saying them get sick to death of it? Dear god someone get the Blizz writers a thesaurus!
Endgame cinematic of the next expansion:Alexstrasza being dragged down into a bottomless pit by void tendrils. Suddenly Vin Diesel in a black 1970 Dodge Charger R/T drives off a cliff, extending his arm from the windows. He grabs Alexstrasza and brings her to safety."Dom! You saved me! But why?""We're family ..."
You know a story is incredible when during the climax each character takes turns saying one line each, finishing each other’s sentences, and spelling out explicitly what they learned during the story and how they grew. This writing is not even Disney-fied, they at least can have clever nuance. This is legitimately what they do for shows for small children to teach them important lessons. I’m absolutely shocked that they did this and this seems like complete tonal whiplash from the War Within cinematic. It’s not because it’s content is softer but because of how it’s written. One is dealing with complete PTSD and trauma, the other feels like an episode of Bob the Builder. Who is writing this? Will they be writing War Within?
