As of 6.2.3 you are still able to run this script to check for quest completion.
/script print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(1952))
just replace the number with the Quest ID number of the quest you are trying to verify if you have completed it or not and enter it into the chat window like a macro command.(##RESPBREAK##)

The easier way (to me) is to just link your account to Wowhead, update your character profile, and then go to that quest's page. It'll let you know if you have completed it or not.
Doing it your way, I'd honestly have no clue how to get the Quest ID number without coming to Wowhead and looking it up anyways. :)

One thing that Jarycu didn't mention is that you have to "Pin" the profile, to let Wowhead know you want to see that character's progress on DB pages.

Another thing you can do is go to
http://www.icy-veins.com/wow/completed-quests-checker
and look up your character there for a list by region however it does sometimes have quests that are not actually available anymore or have been changed (seems blizzard just makes a new quest instead of editing them when they make changes I guess?)
edit: seems this is also available under the quests tab of your character's profile on wowhead

To
create profiles
, you don't need to link your WH account to Battle.net
However, it's an easy and quick way to
verify
your profiles, and also you see a list of your existing characters to quickly import as a profile.

Copy-pasting the /script -command into WoW and replacing the ID (the number) with the number of the quest in the url bar of the quest on Wowhead is quite a bit easier and faster creating a character profile in Wowhead and checking it from there, especially when Wowhead seems to be the laggiest website on the whole internet these days what with all of their "clever" ways of trying to circumvent AdBlock users.
I knew this command existed, googled for it to remind me what it was, found this page/post, and from there it was like five seconds to make sure I had done the quest, seeing as though I already had the quest page open anyway. I could not have been bothered to start creating a character profile for such an insignificant thing.

How was Wowhead notify you that you have completed a quest?

This Icy Veins only shows you quest left to do and there is no way to view class hall content for legion. Worthless.

FYI, icyveins doesn't seem to have added any newer quests than Broken Isles. Nothing from Argus. I was hoping to find the breadcrumb for the Light's Judgement spell.

OH MY GOURD
THIS
THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED
I have been trying so hard to figured out where I left the BOP questline and could not for the life of me figure out how to see which quests were completed.
Nulgar's comment on pins really helped me a lot.
So what I did, was go to my profile, select my character I'm working on. Choose "pin." Then go to the BOP comments because there is a questline comment section. Then when you click on one of the quests, there is a drop down option that says "Add to list" You can create a new list (BOP for me) and I basically went through each of the first listed quests adding them to my new list. You can open this list in a new tab and it will show you a green check if you have completed it or not.
THANK YOU!

As of 2 days before BfA prepatch this continues to work. A lot easier to take a group of guildies IN GAME through finding their way lost in a quest line, than trying to get them to use an external site...sure, I'M using the external site to get them the quest IDs, but that's my lot in life. :)

I ran this script and I "think" it worked.
Want to confirm the results:
true
= completed
false
= not completed
Is this correct?

As of 8.0.1, if you pin your character and mouse-over links to a quest, you will get a green checkmark if you completed the quest.

Yes.
It's printing a boolean (true or false) of whether or not that quest flags as completed.
True = yes.
