The Chief is in the cave above the winterfall village (NOT the Yeti cave!). Respawn seems to be about 5-10min.
He is surrounded by 2 non elites and the Chief by himself is a very easy elite, you just need some way to CC the adds.

Also before you start the fight make sure the winterfall runners are not going to jump you from behind since they do end their run here.

After you kill him he drops a book that will give you another quest that you turn in to Donovan (same person that gave you this quest). So be sure to loot him before you run away from the mob

go inside winterfall village (east of everlook) and just follow the path. it will lead you to a small cave where you will find chief winterfall and his two bodyguards. be careful not to go too near the cave when not yet ready because they patrol a little bit outside the cave entrance.

Solo-ed as 56 Affliction lock. Send in VW to hold agro -> chain fear the chief meanwhile nuking the 2 adds -> finish off chief afterwards. Simple, didn't even have to use healthstone or potion or anything.

Soloed with a 56 hunter, also did it as a 57 paladin-rogue group. Killed chief and adds on both occasions.

If you do Are We There, Yeti? (http://www.cuckhead.com/?quest=5163) first, you can use the mechanical yeti reward to aggro one or both of the adds. By doing this I soloed it quite easy as a 58 druid.

Solo'd this quest as a 57 frost mage. Just use water elemental to attck first and the just spam frostbolt and ice barrier.

Soloed as a 55 priest.

MC'ed one of the non-elites and let it get beaten to death by the other two - ran out, rinsed, and repeated for the second add.

Fight against elite is tough, treat him as so and you'll beat him down easy enough

muahahahah did it alone a 54 druid , balance, with help form a minion (the ety one u get on some q in winterspring), i killed 1st the shaman , then the other one and the last i fighted with the cheef , preserved all my mana for healing most , easy :))

Soloed as 56 Combat Rogue: sapped High Chief Winterfall and SnD/BladeFlurry'd the adds down. Vanished and took my time re-engaging him - easy 1v1 with Adrenaline Rush. Dropped Firewater (yay!) and 25 Timbermaw rep, easy quest.

This quest was a little tough, i solo'd as a 56 Shadow priest, i just attacked High chief, VT/VE SW:P and feared, MB and MF till he was dead, I had to use one mana pot. He dropped the AP elixir for me.

Could be easily done with 2 people, or can be solo'ed if you have some CC.

56 Demo warlock using FG. Keep the High Chief feared till after you take out his two adds, use CoS + Fear to decrease resist chance. Used Healthstone, Health Pot, and Feldom FG, but otherwise not too hard.

Was able to solo this as a 57 shadow priest. I quickly cast mind soothe on all the mobs then mind controlled the elite. I was easily able to burn one of the adds down and start on the second before mind control broke, by that time the adds had hurt the elite pretty bad too. I bubbled, dotted elite, physic screamed them both away, and finished off the elite, then finished off the last add.

I highly recommend that you mind control the ELITE as the adds will do most of the dps for you on the elite.

57 afflic lock, this was a joke. Just make sure you clear the top shelf of mobs (right before the chief's cave) out completely, and make your pull shortly after. I opened up with a full dot cycle on the chief, let him and his two buds aggro to me, dropped instant Howl of Terror, sent the feldoggy to hold the shaman's aggro, chain-feared the Chief as I kept the dots up and drain tanked the third add's damage (from the Chief's health, that is). Chief dropped, I moved in on the shaman, dropped him, moved in on

Never even had to use a healthstone or pot. Of course results may vary with your luck of resists. Chief has relatively low HP for a 59 elite, so just make sure you open up and tear him down fast, even if it means breaking the adds' aggro.

Solo'd as a lvl 55 Balance Druid. Did this in 2 parts
1) take out the adds while rooting the elite, afterwards ran away to get out of combat
2) return for the elite chief with my Treants and my yeti
- kept him rooted again
- faerie fire to lower his armor to get max physical dmg out of him (treants + yeti)
- kept dots up (moonfire + insect swarm)
- when nothing to do, just kept nuking him with starfire
- no pots/innervate needed

Ok had some occasional "misses" because of the level difference, but otherwise a very easy elite in my opinion.... Good luck to you all

Easily doable as a 56 feral druid. Dire Bear (about 7300 armor), wail on the chief, frenzied regen at about 1/3 health, keep wailing (mangle/swipe), at about 1/3 health again, pop out, barkskin, healing touch->regrowth->rejuv, back to dire bear. Chief will die and you'll be at full health to take on the other two (who will be at about 3/4).

Unluckily for me, the runners showed up with the other 2 at half health. So, i looted the chief real quick, travel form, and ran away.

High Chief is non-elite as of patch 2.3.0 (and many other mini-bosses are), isn't a problem to solo now.

I killed him (level 59) and his level 56 add as a level 53 Shadow Priest, 5 points in Shadow Focus, 2 in Imp. Psychic Scream.

Pretty easy with these two talents and a mana pot, and you get a nce trinket. :)

Just completed this with my druid (55) I found it best to kill the add first, seeing as it was a shaman and If my memory serves me correctly they can heal so try kill him first then quickly knock down Chiefy himself.

No real trouble here you may want to clear the area outside a little if you want to fear the two but otherwise it shouldn't be difficult

* Be sure to pick up the book he drops as it leads on to another quest which gives a ~~necklace~~ Trinket

Soloed as 55 rogue. Though, I only saw one add. And the second one did not spawn for some time, strange. Sapped his guard and nuked the leader. Very easy task and very rewarding for the book earlier mentioned.

if the runners go in the cave and you are soloing this quest and do not feel like going inside the cave... I waited at the entrance of the cave and the high chief's walking path from inside the cave ends at the entrance... you can easily wait for him to walk to the entrance from inside and then pull him... he only had one monster with him andI solod this quest and finished it quickly as a 57 lock...

What would be a very easy quest except that on a PvP server you find a lot of higher lvl (mostly 70s) people grinding here, if you are lucky enough to show up when there is anything in the area alive, get it done fast before you start getting ganked. I tried for close to an hour, but every time I got ganked before I could kill him, I tried rezzing in the back of the cave and hiding until he respawned, but someone would come and kill me and High Chief Winterfall before I could complete the fight, making the quest completely undoable.

I was planning on putting off this quest for a bit, since it was orange to me, but managed to accidentally kill him. I was thinking he was located over at the Timbermaw Post, so wasn't prepared for him. I had gone up to the cave to get the shaman I needed for http://www.cuckhead.com/?quest=8464 and did kill the shaman... but aggro'd him as well. Ended up with just over 100 HP left on my level 56 Fury/Arms Warrior. Between deep wounds, rend, thunderclap, my gnomish net-o-matic (used on the shaman to keep them from running away) and I think one superior healing potion, I was just able to do it.

Just did this as a level 54 enchantment shaman, first killed chief then the shaman add. I recommend useing Nature resistance totem, to reduce the treat of the add's lightning bolts, a healing stream totem to get a little bonus health, and a strength of earth totem, to increase damage. Keep watershield up to hold your mana in place, and lesser healing wave whenever u get a little low on health.

Just did this on my 55 Shadow Priest. Went fairly well. Had to pop a Demonic Stone and then used a Heath Potion afterwards. Fairly easy to get into the camp, stay to the right a bit and do as little mobs as possible. A 59 elite came up, but was easier to kill than any other thing there. To make it fair though, I do have two BoA (shoulder and a staff). Not sure if that'll make much of a difference for gear, but it may.

I just soloed this on my first try with my 54 disc / shadow hybrid priest. Level 59 was red to me, so it was a fun challenge. It took some time to kill him though since most of my spells were missing. I feared and burned down the add quickly. Kept my shield up - and reflective shield did much of the work for me. I focused on trying to land my DoTs and keeping myself alive. I ended up using a greater mana pot right at the end, but my gear is bad.

As stated above, the drop he gives for doing this quest is a very nice trinket.

Thought I'd add some information regarding the exp gained since someone already posted something about it.

At lvl 54 I got 12760 exp, albeit with +20% experience due to BoA-shoulders and chest.

And as others have already stated, there is only one 'add' with him in the cave :)

solo'd at lv54 drenai ret pala, focus on the shaman, use consecration over and over, have a good stock of mana and use plenty of healing spells Gift of the naaru and Divine sheild make a good combo, lay on hands is recommened if it starts getting ugly

[While we still know very little about why the furbolg have been ingesting this strange substance, I do think it's best that we put a stop to it before it gets out of hand.

The Winterfall furbolg are not a normally aggressive tribe, and this change in their behavior leads me to think that they must be under orders from their chief. We most likely can't undo the damage that has already been done, but I think that if their leader is slain, they will not get any worse.
