Blizzard Cancels Titan
Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime and Senior Vice President Chris Metzen have
confirmed to Polygon
that their "secret" project, Titan, has been cancelled. Polygon has also put together a
summary of Blizzard canceled games
.
"We didn't find the fun,"
Morhaime continued. "
We didn't find the passion. We talked about how we put it through a reevaluation period, and actually, what we reevaluated is whether that's the game we really wanted to be making. The answer is no.

Activision Earnings Call: WoW Down to 7.7 Million Subs, Titan Updates
Activision announced their
second quarter 2013 financial results
today. It was confirmed that WoW lost 600k subscribers since the last earnings call, which was released as a tentative estimate in a press release from
last week
, in which it was also announced last week that Activision Blizzard was separating from their parent company Vivendi in an $8.2 billion deal.
It was also revealed that
Titan is unlikely to be a subscription-based MMO
, Blizzard is looking for a new director for Titan, and that the game's concept is undergoing significant changes.
The subscription losses follows

Blizzard on Titan: Official Statement
Late this evening, rumors started circulating that Titan, Blizzard's next-gen MMO, was delayed until 2016 with many developers reassigned to other projects.
With
WoW down to 8.3 million subscribers
after the latest Activision Blizzard earnings call, some players thought that Titan development needed to be sped up. But in order to be a truly great next-gen MMO and breathe some new life into the genre, taking extra time to deliver an excellent product is worth the wait.
ZAM reached out to Blizzard
to see if any of the rumors, first covered on
Venturebeat
, were true. In the following statement, it was confirmed that some developers have been reassigned to other projects while the core team implements some large design and technology changes to Titan. No specifics on launch dates were given.
We've always had a highly iterative development process, and the unannounced MMO is no exception. We've come to a point where we need

In with the Newb, Out with the Old: The Future of World of Warcraft
It was an interesting week for outside sources, with
an interview featuring Tom Chilton on IGN
and
a very in-depth examination of WoW's subscriber woes at Gamasutra
.
The catch? Both of them deal with the future of Azeroth in different ways. Gamasutra analyzed the shortcomings of Cataclysm, interviewing players and even Blizzard employees to figure out what's in store. IGN took a more basic approach, going directly to the source with both Tom Chilton and WoW's art director explaining everything in their own words without leaving room for speculation.
IGN With Tom Chilton on 4.3
Chilton didn't waste time getting to the point in
IGN's interview
. He immediately started dropping juicy tidbits about the Deathwing encounter, saying: "The fight takes place in multiple different environments, you'll actually potentially get loot at different points in the encounter so it's broken up into larger scale overall. Players will start at Wyrmrest Temple and then eventually it progresses to players fighting on back flyin

News Roundup: Cataclysm Hotfixes, Heroics, Project Titan, Starcraft II Demo
Just the latest news from the world of Blizzard, including a small batch of Cataclysm hotfixes, veiled details about Blizzard's new MMO, tips on surviving Heroics and more!
Notable Cataclysm hotfixes include:
The search radius to find an Archaeology node from the Archaeology ability Survey has been increased. This will result in fewer searches needed while in the "green" range of surveying.
Chakra is no longer consumed by a Prayer of Mending bounce.
Several shirts have been corrected so they no longer cause a player's item level to increase. They are item level 1.
In addition, another, undocumented hotfix was recently applied which will make it so that players without an appropriate crafting profession of 425 or higher will no longer be able to 'Need' roll on
Globo del Caos
! This should be a welcome change for any users with the profession, however I still say that making them BOP was silly in the first place. But meh, we're probably just a few patches away from a change on that - and by then, it won't matter.
A hotfix was applied about an hour ago that changes it so Chaos Orbs will only be available
