Welcome to the Skip of the Week. This week, we'll be taking an in-depth look at the Spires of Ascension skip after the 2nd boss. This skip allows you to avoid the irritating trash in the dungeon, as well as save a massive amount of time by doing so.
About the Author
Hi, my name is
Tarisant
. I am an avid Mythic+ player, and am a raider in one of the top NA guilds, poptart corndoG of Tichondrius. You can find me on
Youtube
, or on my
Twitch
, where I will often be streaming my keys or raid.
Location of the Skip
Let's start by looking at where the skip takes place. After defeating the second boss and flying to the final platform of the dungeon, you'll walk up some stairs. At the top of this first set of stairs is a
Infernale Indegno
. This skip allows you to avoid fighting this mob as well, however this is a decent place to commit some cooldowns, since there's a lot of walking and time before you'll need them again on the boss. Use whichever way you think is best for your route!
How to Perform the Skip
In order to skip the
Infernale Indegno
, you'll want to walk up to the brazier on the righthand side, like this:
Since it is slanted, you can just walk into it and eventually push past it. This is important, because you have to hug it pretty tightly to get around the
Infernale Indegno
without pulling it. As soon as you're past the brazier, it's time to hop on the ledge right behind it. Head to the very outside, and walk up.
Once you reach the top, jump back down to the other stairs. This is where the skip gets a bit tricky if you don't have the proper tools.
The main thing you need to worry about is this
Custode Indegno
closest to you on the stairs. You're trying to hop over the ledge here, and to do that without putting yourself in combat you need to have stealth or some kind of non-combat CC for him. Here's all the ways you could get up:
Rogue's
Manto d'Occultamento
Priest's
Pacificazione Mentale
Druid's
Movimento Furtivo
Demon Hunter's
Salto Doppio
or
Imprigionamento
Mage's
Metamorfosi
Hunter's
Trappola Congelante
Shaman's
Maleficio
Paladin's
Penitenza
Monk's
Paralisi
and
Circolo di Pace
Warlock's
Varco Demoniaco
Warrior 's
Balzo Eroico
Venthyr
Porta delle Ombre
Every Way to Skip the
Custode Indegno
Stair Pack
Rogue
Manto d'Occultamento
This is by far the fastest way to get through this area. Simply pop
Manto d'Occultamento
and walk through, no need to jump over the ledge or do anything fancy.
Priest
Pacificazione Mentale
, Demon Hunter
Imprigionamento
The two next easiest ways to get by is to use one of these two abilities if they are available to the group. These allow you to CC the mob without putting him in combat, making it very easy to walk into the corner of the stairs and ledge and jump over. Then, use a multi-person mount and pull the rest of the group up.
Druid
Movimento Furtivo
, Demon Hunter
Salto Doppio
Next would be using these two abilities to get over the wall safely without using any kind of Crowd Control. As before, get on a mount and pull your group up.
Monk
Circolo di Pace
Using
Paralisi
on the Warden will count as a combat Crowd Control. However, you can knock it away from aggro range by using
Circolo di Pace
in combination with it, giving your group a huge amount of leeway for getting up on the ledge. This can be applied in a lot of other places to slip past packs, so if you play monk you should get used to doing this!
Warlock's
Varco Demoniaco
Using
Varco Demoniaco
from the stairs onto the ledge, you can port your whole party up to the ledge!
Combat Crowd Control Skips
The rest of the list is full of what I call combat Crowd Controls. These will put the first person to walk into aggro range into combat with the Crowd Controlled enemy. To get around this, you should have someone who can drop combat take aggro of the mob before the rest of the group gets in the corner and hops up. This should ideally be your Mage with
Invisibilità
or Hunter with
Morte Apparente
, or a Night Elf if you play Alliance and can
Fondersi nelle Ombre
.
To see how to do a combat CC skip, I have included a video that shows me doing it on a pack in Mists.
If you can't use some kind of combat reset like the ones listed above, have somebody take combat with the mob. Once the group is up, that person should go die and get ressed. This will still be faster than playing the pack, so don't worry about the death timer.
Mounting Someone Up
Once you have someone up on the ledge, they'll want to hop on a multi-person mount and start pulling people up by having them get on and then off the mount. Once the whole group is up, you can start to head past the rest of this area to the boss.
If you're a Druid or Demon Hunter, you can avoid going on the stairs at all and skip up by using
Carica Selvaggia
or double jumping. It would look something like this:
Note: You will be put into
fake
combat in this area fairly often. Do not worry about it, as it does nothing except annoy you. Just wait until it falls and continue pulling people up with the mount.
After the Skip
Proceed to the third boss by lining up with the farthest left or right
Usurpatore Indegno
and running in a straight line towards him. This can cause heavy group damage if you all go at once, so I recommend just having your tank go and staying back until your tank has them all collected at the pillar. Then follow his path and proceed through the rest of the dungeon as normal!
In any key level, having to play the two packs on the stairs with
Mastodonte Indegno
s in them is a massive time loss, so being able to perform this skip will add multiple minutes to your timer. Best of luck!
Here's what the whole skip looks like from start to finish. The first video shows how a Druid or Demon Hunter can go faster, and the second is how you would do it with stealth or a CC.
