Well, the five of us
finally
had the time to get together and run again tonight, so I figured I'd take a moment to post again to make sure you knew I hadn't forgotten. :)
This time we ran
Hellfire Ramparts
in about an hour, and found to our delight that we had time left over for a trip through the
Blood Furnace
– and it's a good thing we had the quest rewards from
Weaken the Ramparts
and
The Blood is Life
, or there would have been no loot at all (what good is
Razziainferi
to a dedicated protection warrior?).
In the process of doing them, though, I got to thinking. I mean, I'm not a really exceptional player. I'm not dumb, I pull my weight in a group – but there are a lot of people who are a LOT better at this game than I am,
Miyari
and
Skosiris
included. I really tend to think of myself as a pretty average, and very casual, player.
And yet, I found myself surfing the web while I fought. And I wasn't the only one;
Rotgurgle
wiped us once by accidentally getting his
button stuck(?), but the fact that he was continuously alt-tabbing out of the game to IM his friends or check his Facebook didn't seem to affect anything. Heck, I was all proud of myself for plotting out a fancy strategy to maximize my dps for
Nazan
and
Vazruden
(pop
Vene Gelide
and
Evocazione: Elementale dell'Acqua
right at the beginning of the fight, then as soon as Nazan lands use
to repeat the process), but I never got to
use
it – Vazruden was already dead before my Water Elemental despawned.
So I guess what I'm wondering is...weren't these instances hard, once? I mean, I remember having a
terrible
time tanking Blood Furnace back when I was 61-62 on my paladin, trying to hold aggro on the
Shadowmoon Technicians
through their
Silenzio
(pally tanks ftl), when the other people in the group kept blundering into the Proximity Bombs. This time we just ignored them. Heck, the only time we even sheeped anything was when there were three of them, since the damage from three Proximity Bombs was enough to kill
Sabrielle
. Even those insufferable
Felguard Annihilators
– the ones that drop aggro and just charge whichever group member they want? They just sort of...died.
We'd been looking forward to getting into Outland instances, figuring they'd be a change from the too-easy-ness of the old world instances. But are we too late? Has WotLK nerfed the Outland instances into oblivion too? Or worse – are the complaints true, and is
everything
too easy now?
Thoughts, opinions and comments are welcome. For those of you who are just joining us, here's the lineup:
Jasica
Sabrielle
Udderbell
Rotgurgle
Gajuson
