Rare Mount Drops in Draenor

Now that raiding has started and the PvP season is in full swing, you may have some time now to go check out the awesome new mount drops in the Warlords of Draenor expansion. There are 7 new rare mount drops available in Draenor currently. 6 of these rare spawns have a 100% chance to drop their respective mounts for everyone that is able to tag the rare mob that drops it. The 7th,
Nok-Karosh
, is different in that his mount is more rare but he is up virtually all the time - only 1
Garn Urlocupo
drops so not everyone can loot one from a single kill. This mount, though, can be traded or sold on the auction house.
Due to some of the new phasing technology, there may be different instances of a single zone on the same server. If you see someone in Chat say that a rare is up but you don't see it, if you get invited to that person's group you can be phased into the same-server-alternate-phase where the mount is and kill it there. Because most of these mounts (except
Nok-Karosh
) behave along the same lines as personal loot, if you happen to have the corpse despawn on you or you somehow drop the phase, the Postmaster will mail you your drop. With the new group finder feature, you will often find groups camping the rare spawns or killing Nok-Karrosh.
All of the rares that drop mounts have several different spawn points, except
Nok-Karosh
who has a static spawn point. Wowhead user
Obtains
has created a
fantastic map
of the possible spawn locations of all the rare spawns that drop mounts.
Good luck on your mount hunting adventures!
Nakk il Tuonatore
Zoccolorosso Adulto
is received from killing
Nakk il Tuonatore
in
Nagrand
This is one of seven new colors of clefthooves introduced in Warlords of Draenor. He is a deep red color. The spawn time on
Nakk il Tuonatore
appears to be, at minimum, 20 hours. This is quite a bit longer than some of the other mount rares in the lower level zones. His spawn times are effected by server restarts.
When attacking this mob, his health pool will scale up to about 15 million HP with enough people attacking it. You do not need to be grouped to win the mount. . The spawn points are near the
Joz Navarix
flight path in the northern part of the zone but having a group set up to camp all the spawn points is the best way to catch Nakk when he spawns.
Gorok
Zannagrigia Maestoso
drops from killing
Gorok
in
Landa di Fuocogelo
.
This rare is a grey boar with no armor and drops a mount in his likeness.
Gorok
is a level 93 elite and does not have much health. He is easily killed at level 100. Like most of the other lower level zone mount rares, he appears to have a 7-8 hour respawn timer that is not affected by server restarts.
You do not need to be grouped to obtain the mount, simply tag the mob.
Gorok
's spawns are spread very far across the zone so the best way to catch him up would be to have people watching at each spawn point so they can alert the zone.
Luk'hok
Calcaradure Chiazzato
drops from killing
Luk'hok
in
Nagrand
.
Luk'hok
drops a tan, unarmored version of the new elekk model. He is a level 100 rare elite. You do not need to be grouped to obtain the mount, simply tag the mob.
Luk'hok
has around a 6-8 hour respawn timer and several different spawn points around
Nagrand
. Most of his spawn points are near the Ring of Trials flight path (
Biggy Fruttaguerra
).
Pugnograve
Protogronn Mantosolare
drops from killing
Pugnograve
in
Gorgrond
.
Pugnograve
is one of the more popular rares to kill for his mount - a unique, rideable Gronnling! Although he is a lower level mount rare, his spawn time is longer than others (tending around 50+ hours, although that is not confirmed) and is effected by server restarts. You will often find groups camping
Pugnograve
in the Group Finder. Due to his popularity and long respawn timer, a community of mount enthusiasts has grown around camping and killing
Pugnograve
-
Anzu
is maintaining an up to date
spreadsheet
of confirmed US kills and
Palefang
is maintaining an
EU kills spreadsheet
as well.
Pugnograve
's mount is a 100% drop for all those who tag the mob and you do not need to be grouped to receive this drop. In a recent hotfix,
Pugnograve
was given 40% more health and now scales with the number of players engaging him - this will increase your chance of getting to him in time to tag it.
Pugnograve
has 4 spawn points near the Gronn Canyon (at
Nisha
's flightpath) and one in a more northern part of the zone. Due to his popularity, the Group Finder is most likely the best way to find this rare.
Pellebraga
Bestia dei Fiumi di Zaffiro
drops from killing
Pellebraga
in
Talador
.
Pellebraga
is easy to spot amongst the other riverwallows hanging out in
Talador
- he is blue!
Pellebraga
is a level 97 rare elite and is easily killed at level 100.
Pellebraga
is found in the waters of
Talador
but the spawn points are fairly spread out - they are all reachable from the
Artiglio dei Cieli Inuz
flight point but having a mount like
Redini del Gerride Azzurro
or the ability to walk on water may make it easier to access his spawn points. Reports indicate that
Pellebraga
's respawn timer is between 12 and 28 hours and has 5 different spawn points. His health does not scale when being attacked by more than one player, unlike other rares. In addition, Wowhead users have commented that it appears that server restarts do effect
Pellebraga
's spawn.
Calcavie
Calcabrezza Agile
drops from killing
Calcavie
in
Valle di Torvaluna
.
Calcavie
is a level 93 elite rare who drops a tan version of the new talbuk model. The reports on
Calcavie
's spawns appear to mirror the low level spawn rate of about 6-8 hours. His health does not scale when being attacked by players. A useful item to aid you in quickly getting to
Calcavie
if he has spawned far away from you is the
Spirito di Shinri
, which summons a very fast talbuk for you to quickly get across
Valle di Torvaluna
.
Calcavie
's spawns are mostly centrally located in the zone near several flight paths,
Azara Aladorata
,
Vamuun
, and
Morfax
.
Nok-Karosh
Garn Urlocupo
drops from
Nok-Karosh
in
Landa di Fuocogelo
.
Nok-Karosh
has a short respawn timer, about 20 minutes. This is to ensure he is repeatedly killable since only one mount drops from him per kill. This mount must be rolled on and cannot be master-looted. Unlike the other rare mount drops, you must be grouped with the person who has the tag on
Nok-Karosh
in order to be eligible to receive the mount. He also hits very very hard, making this fight basically a kite-zerg.
At the time of this writing, it's best to have 15-35 people in your group with as many
Cavaliere della Morte
s as possible since
Armata dei Morti
(with taunts) is great for controlling the wolf adds that come with the boss. It is also useful to have lots of classes with crowd control spells like a Mage's Polymorph for the adds that are up around the boss at his spawn point. They can be crowd controlled prior to the pull. The closest flight paths are
Pul Graffiavento
and
Roark il Lupo Alato
for Horde and
Brenna Cielofiero
for Alliance.
