Prideful Seasonal Affix: How It Works - Single Target Reaping with a Damage Buff on Completion

Season 1 of Shadowlands should have the Prideful Seasonal Affix for all keystones above Level 10 and we're going over how the Prideful affix works on the Shadowlands Beta. Currently, it's very similar to a single target Reaping affix, but when the mob is defeated, you get a damage, mana regen and movement speed buff for a full minute, making it a fantastic risk/reward affix that's a ton of fun!
The Prideful Seasonal Affix: How it Works
The
Orgoglio
Seasonal Affix should be automatically applied to Keystones that are at least level 10 in Shadowlands Season 1. Compared to other Seasonal affixes,
Orgoglio
has relatively low impact throughout the dungeon and doesn't look like it'll change week to week.
Manifestation of Pride Spawning
Similar to the BFA Season 2 Seasonal Affix,
Mietitura
, at every 20% Enemy Forces (aka Trash Count), players will spawn a
Manifestazione dell'Orgoglio
near their location. Because of this, you'll get a
maximum of 5 spawns
throughout the dungeon.
Manifestazione dell'Orgoglio
has a base health of ~189k and will scale up with key level. This is about 30% of an average bosses health. If the group happens to drop combat with the Manifestation of Pride, say through death, it will return to its spawn location and
not reset its health
.
Manifestation of Pride Abilities
For
Manifestazione dell'Orgoglio
's abilities, it will melee the highest threat target and cast 2 other abilities.
The first ability that the
Manifestazione dell'Orgoglio
will cast is
Esplosione d'Orgoglio
, dealing 384 base damage (scaling with key level) to all players every 2 seconds and gaining a stack of
Esplosione d'Orgoglio
increasing its AoE damage by 40% per stack.
This slowly ramps the party damage until the Manifestation of Pride is defeated.
If the party wipes, and the
Manifestazione dell'Orgoglio
drops combat, the stacks will reset. Once it's reengaged, the stacks will continue to ramp once again.
The
Manifestazione dell'Orgoglio
's other ability is
Vanteria Bellicosa
which is cast every 7 seconds.
This applies a debuff for 4 seconds to a random member of the party. Note that this debuff doesn't actually deal any damage.
While the debuff is counting down, 4 red lines can be seen around the player
indicating the direction
that missiles will fire when the debuff expires.
The origin point of the missiles is the debuffed player, so if they move, so will the trajectory of the missiles.
However, the missiles seem to always point in the cardinal directions (North, East, South and West), so turning your character does not change the direction of the missiles.
After 4 seconds, the missiles will fire outwards dealing high damage and stunning anyone hit with
Vanteria Bellicosa
for 2 seconds. However, the stun can be Magic Dispelled.
Damage, Mana and Movement Speed Buff
Of course, you killed a scary Pride creature, now you get to reap the rewards with the
Orgoglioso
buff, granting you the following buffs for 1 minute.
30% damage.
60% movement speed.
5% mana every sec.
Once you kill the
Manifestazione dell'Orgoglio
it's GO time! You get bonus
damage
, you get
movement speed
to get there faster and healers get massively
increased mana regen
(possibly even making them unable to OOM). There's also a unique interaction with Arcane Mage, considering their damage largely revolves around mana.
Summary
Compared to some of the other Seasonal Affixes,
Orgoglio
seems straightforward:
Every 20%, a
Manifestazione dell'Orgoglio
will spawn
While active, it will deal increasing party-wide damage and cause players to fire out missiles.
Killing the
Manifestazione dell'Orgoglio
will grant a 1 minute buff granting
30% damage
,
60% movement speed
, and
5% mana every second
.
Initial Thoughts
Orgoglio
is a straightforward kiss/curse Seasonal affix that is really awesome to play around. I think one of the most important things is the lack of complexity without removing depth and adding a positive benefit to offset the feeling of affixes always being negative. The affix itself is relatively simple to understand and there's only a few mechanics. The 1 minute victory buff is super fun with more damage, and healers get a healer-centric buff too in a massive increase to mana regen!
Even with
Orgoglio
being so straightforward there's plenty of meaningful choices to make regarding where to proc the Manifestation, where to kill the Manifestation, and even do we want to kill the Manifestation. Each of those has their own pros and cons that need to be weighed against each other; if you want to skip the Manifestation (Night Elves with Reaping), you're going to be losing the damage, mana and movement speed buff but you don't need to deal about 30% of a bosses health in damage. In addition, there's likely no change week to week like with
Inganno
, where players were not just fighting the Emissaries, but also the position change of those Emissaries every week.
