The Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar is back this week with new Madnesses. Split Personality is up as a base madness for the Lost Zones and will likely cause frustration and occasional cursing. In this article, we'll go over this week's Madnesses, including for the dual Madnesses for the Mask of the Pained, and give tips and tricks for each zone.
Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar Ability Guide
Madness Table
Zone
Base Madness
Mask of the Pained Madness
Tainted
Follia: Desincronizzato
Follia: Potere Promesso
Corrupted
Follia: Entomofobia
Follia: Piedi Bruciati
Lost
Follia: Sdoppiamento della Personalità
Follia: Ombre Infestanti
Tainted Area - Desynchronized
Each week, the negative affixes affecting players inside Horrific Visions change. The base Madness in this week's Tainted Area (Easy Area) is
Follia: Desincronizzato
.
Follia: Desincronizzato
- Your spells and abilities disrupt your perception of time, occasionally making you much faster or slower than normal.
Unlike the other Madnesses in the Tainted Area, you'll immediately notice this Madness, even when not in combat. At the start of the Tainted Area, you will randomly be assigned slow or fast and it will swap after a certain number of abilities used. This ability can be a little frustrating as when it swaps from fast to slow, it can feel like you have some input lag.
If you're a stealth class, it's actually worth it to wait at the start to see if you get slow, and then spam random abilities until it flips to fast before starting to stealth through.
Corrupted Areas - Entomophobia
The base Madness in this week's Corrupted Areas (Medium Area) is
Follia: Entomofobia
.
Follia: Entomofobia
- While in combat, creatures crawl on you. When 5 are on you, you can't resist running to get them off. Jumping removes these creatures.
There's not much to this one. You can either jump one every 10 seconds or so, or deal with 3 seconds of forced movement. Usually, it's easier to just jump occasionally. The forced movement also doesn't begin right when you reach 5 stacks, but a couple seconds after you reach 5 stacks giving you some extra time to jump to get the bugs off.
Lost Areas - Split Personality
The base Madness in this week's Lost Areas (Hard Area) is
Follia: Sdoppiamento della Personalità
.
Follia: Sdoppiamento della Personalità
- Periodically find yourself surrounded by fearful mirror images. Touching one disorients you for 4 sec.
If you haven't experienced Split Personality before, it sucks. This Madness periodically procs, giving you a couple seconds of warning before spawning a ring of evil clones around you, with a gap somewhere in that ring. If there’s nothing forcing you to move, you can stand in the middle. However, if your character hits an evil clone, you will probably think about how BS this Madness is and potentially curse while you’re disoriented for 4 seconds.
It doesn’t drain Sanity or deal damage but Split Personality often procs at the worst times, forcing you to choose between taking sanity damage or getting CC'ed. Other times, you just get forcefully displaced through your own orbs and you’ll ask yourself why this Madness is so unfair.
Split Personality procs regardless of whether you’re in combat, with no buff or debuff warning. The only way to tell if it’s about to proc is by a purple screen tint on the edges of your screen a couple of seconds before it activates. When you see the tint, try to stand still and be prepared to dodge out if you need to. However, Split Personality is a magic debuff and can be dispelled if you're in a group with a healer, or prevented by abilities like
Scudo Antimagia
.
Some points to watch out for Split Personality are as follows:
In the Valley of Wisdom:
The
Colosso Corrotto dal Vuoto
will throw the primary target using
Balzo Esplosivo
. If Split Personality procs at the same time you won't be able to dodge the leap and take additional Sanity damage.
On the
Orrore Coagulato
and
Vez'okk il Senza Luce
, you'll frequently have to make the choice of eating their sanity damage mechanics or eating a Split Personality.
In the Valley of Honor:
Be careful of the Headbutt cast from the Aqir Bonecrusher. It will knock you back and potentially straight through your Split Personality!
Each of Rexxar's boars will knock you back a small distance when they activate and charge to you. One charge won't knock you into your Split Personality but more than one will.
Mask of the Pained Madnesses
The
Maschera Senza Volto dell'Afflitto
is a modifier that adds 25% health and damage to all creatures and a second madness to all zones. It is obtained from completing the
Old Town
objective in the Horrific Vision of Stormwind.
Horrific Vision Mask Information
These are the dual Madness combinations for the week of February 11th, 2020.
Tainted Area -
Follia: Desincronizzato
and
Follia: Potere Promesso
Corrupted Areas -
Follia: Entomofobia
and
Follia: Piedi Bruciati
Lost Areas -
Follia: Sdoppiamento della Personalità
and
Follia: Ombre Infestanti
As usual, the Tainted Area with double madnesses isn't that impactful.
The Corrupted Areas has everyone's favorite Hot Foot madness! While annoying, it shouldn't be too impactful in Orgrimmar. One note is that the leap from Hot Foot doesn't actually count as a jump to remove the bug stacks. Make sure you remember to actually jump!
Thankfully, there's no Leaden Foot this week.
Follia: Ombre Infestanti
is much easier than Leaden Foot but the combination of
Follia: Sdoppiamento della Personalità
and
Follia: Ombre Infestanti
does lead to a couple issues. Sometimes, you're forced to move out of your Split Personality whenever the two line up. You can also easily get CC chained if you get hit by one of the Madnesses and the other procs.
