The World of Warcraft's largest deaf raiding guild
Undaunted (Area 52-Horde) has defeated Mythic N'Zoth
, earning the
All'avanguardia: N'zoth il Corruttore
achievement and finishing out the expansion strong! You can see the reactions of several guild members pushing for the kill, while the game chat explodes as the raiders celebrate their hard earned victory.
We
interviewed guild members Sabot, Amisorcery, and Sarialinde last month
, where they talked about how they came together to form the largest deaf raiding guild in World of Warcraft, talked about some of the tools they use to accomplish what most players depend on voice communications for, and shared some of the unique challenges they've had to face. At the time, they mentioned their most memorable recent achievement of taking down King Mekkatorque from Dazar’alor, as it's a very coordination heavy encounter which demands communication between players, and how they were able to overcome the encounter without the use of voice comms, but it seems they now have an even greater victory under their belts!
Video communication using sign language is an important tool in coordinating strategy.
Although being deaf isn't a requirement to join and there are a few hearing players on the raid team, <Undaunted> was founded as a haven for deaf players who struggle to maintain their spots on hearing raid teams. With voice communication being one of the fundamental parts of raid coordination, this achievement is a monumental victory. In total, Mythic N'Zoth took them 377 attempts, which isn't actually all that high for an end of expansion boss, particularly one which many guilds are still struggling with.
