Our Devastation Evoker Guide is updated for Season 2 and a lot has changed! Patch 10.1 brings new talents, reworks to existing talents, and a mostly redesigned capstone tier of our spec tree. Our new 4p tier set
Eredità dei Segreti d'Ossidiana
is also looking to be very strong and encourages us to space our empower spells out outside of
Rabbia del Drago
.
Patch 10.1 Devastion Evoker Guide
Clipping Got (mostly) Clipped
Clipping
, or cutting
Disintegrazione
short (generally after 3 ticks) in
Rabbia del Drago
in order to gain additional uptime on the cooldown, was incentivized in the old talent design for Devastation. This was mainly due to cooldown reduction being tied to casting the spell. With the new
Causalità
there is less of a reason to cut
Disintegrazione
short, since we instead want the ticks for cooldown reduction.
It is still worthwhile to cut
Disintegrazione
short in
Rabbia del Drago
when cooldowns are available (such as
Soffio di Fuoco
,
Stella Frantumante
, and
Impeto dell'Eternità
) or we are capped on
Surriscaldamento
procs. We no longer clip
Disintegrazione
with
Assalto Azzurro
, unless the
Rabbia del Drago
buff is fading, and we only do this in the last 1-2 GCDs of the buff.
This means that clipping is now the exception, not the rule.
The result is that the rotation is much more intuitive, with us wanting to let most of our
Disintegrazione
s finish unless we have something better to cast.
Chaining
, or the act of recasting
Disintegrazione
between the penultimate and last tick to move it into the next channel, is still fine to do but it isn't required if you rather let all your channels fully finish. Chaining is easier, because the window to recast is much bigger than trying to time your next channel down to the millisecond.
There are still some minor optimizations you can make by early chaining (recasting after the 3rd tick on a chained
Disintegrazione
) during
Rabbia del Drago
or if your essence is capped, but the amount of damage you gain from doing this correctly is extremely small (around .2%). For this reason, most players can simply ignore these quirks and play normally.
Redesigned Talent Tree
In Season 2, the Devastation tree has been reworked considerably in the capstone area. Many of the talents (
Causalità
,
Distruzione Imminente
,
Alimentare le Fiamme
,
Fonte di Magia
,
Vigore Arcano
, and
Occhio dell'Infinito
to name a few) have also been changed to do different things. For
Causalità
, cooldowns are shortened per tick with
Disintegrazione
and on impact for
Pira
.
Vigore Arcano
has been reworked and makes
Stella Frantumante
feel much better now since it procs
Detonazione dell'Essenza
.
Tempesta di Fuoco
also has a new option now with
Inferno Furente
.
Many talents were also merged from two points to one. The takeaway is that these changes make the capstones actually feel impactful. We also get to play
Iridescenza
now, which was out of reach before due to
Ondata di Potenza
blocking it off and the lack of "extra" points to play around with. Overall, the new talent tree isn't perfect since it still has some pathing issues (especially around
Tempesta di Fuoco
), but the playstyle has improved a lot. For more information on these changes and the new playstyle for Devastation, be sure to check out the guide!
