In eons past, Sanctuary was created as a haven for Inarius and Lilith, along with their children and their followers, to escape from the conflict between Heaven and Hell. But that was in the past, and now, in a much more pressing event, Lilith has returned home - which will prove disastrous for the people of Sanctuary.
How did we get here? When did the key events leading up to this moment take place? Blizzard has released a timeline of major events in the Diablo franchise - and it brings us right up to speed with the introduction of Diablo IV!
A great resource to ground yourself with, this timeline reveals the dates of some of the most influential moments in Sanctuary's history. From the founding of the Horadric Order to the defeat of Malthael, all of the Diablo games have been covered in this beautifully illustrated timeline.
A particularly interesting point is that the timeline from the events of the original Diablo to the return of Lilith is only a 73 year period - Sanctuary has certainly been through quite a bit in seven decades!
With Humanity having bounced back from Malthael's attempted eradication in only 50 years, the resilience of Lilith's children certainly shines through - but a mother's love can be deadly. We'll see just how deadly when Diablo IV releases in June - we hope to see you in Sanctuary!
