Blizzard Removes 1,500 Inventory Cap for Valor Points

The 1,500 Inventory Cap for Valor Points has been a controversial topic in the community. However, a hotfix was recently applied to Valor Points on the PTR changing the tooltip to look similar to Conquest and removing any mention of the 1,500 Inventory Cap. Could the 1,500 Valor Inventory Cap have been removed?
Earning and Upgrading Gear with Valor Points
EDIT (2:55PM PDT, 3/8/21):
Blizzard has released a blue post stating that this change is intended!
This is correct. There will not be a limit of 1500 Valor that can be held.
I’ve put a strikethrough on that part of the OP.
Valor Points Tooltip Updated
Earlier today, we noticed that the
Punti Valore
tooltip was updated on the Patch 9.0.5 PTR at some point within the last couple of days. The tooltip:
No longer mentions a
Weekly Maximum
The
Total Maximum
was changed from 1,500 to 8,750.
Old PTR Tooltip
New PTR Tooltip
We speculate that the 8,750 Valor Cap would correspond to the Total Valor cap of Week 6 of the Patch. Week 1 of the patch will have a
5,000 Valor Cap
, with the Cap increasing by 750 each week thereafter.
This tooltip for
Punti Valore
now looks identical to the
Punti Conquista
tooltip on live servers.
1,500 Inventory Cap of Valor Points
The 1,500 Inventory Cap for Valor Points has been controversial due to its small size compared to the price of certain Valor Upgrades (2H Weapons costing 1,000
Punti Valore
per rank), and the comparison to
Punti Conquista
which allows you to hold as much
Punti Conquista
as you want in your Inventory.
On March 4th, Blizzard released
a blue post
once again confirming the 1,500
Punti Valore
Inventory cap. However, sometime after that, the tooltip changes for
Punti Valore
listed above were made to the PTR, changing the
Total Maximum
value shown to the overall cap. Could this indicate that Blizzard is removing the Inventory cap of
Punti Valore
for live servers? Without an inventory cap, this would allow players to actually stockpile
Punti Valore
until they're ready to upgrade an item, since
Mythic+ Items obtained before 9.0.5 cannot be upgraded.
When comparing Inventory Caps of other currencies, such as
Animum del Bacino
and
Punti Conquista
, the
Total Maximum
value shows the Inventory Cap. The new
Punti Valore
tooltip looks exactly like those, so we can speculate that the 1,500 Inventory cap might have been removed.
So is there an inventory cap? We're not sure. The Blue Post indicates that there is an Inventory Cap, but there's no mention of the 1,500 Inventory Cap on the tooltip. With no mention on the tooltip, this will be confusing for players that don't keep up with news outside of the game.
